“Perhaps, it’s because she thinks I’m of no use to her, so she’d rather get rid of me.”

Faced with Baili Xia’s question, Guisu could only answer like this.

Regarding Lu Xuening’s matters, Guisu ultimately didn’t tell Baili Xia.

Lu Xuening might be heartless to him, but he couldn’t be disloyal to her.

If he revealed she wasn’t Sima Liuyue, Lu Xuening would undoubtedly be doomed.

No matter which faction it was, they would definitely kill her.

Even the Sima Family would tear her into pieces.

If spoken, she wouldn’t be able to survive.

Though that woman was vicious, she had once saved him.

Baili Xia wasn’t unaware that he was hiding something from her.

He was unwilling to speak, and she didn’t want to force him; it was something between him and Sima Liuyue.

She glanced at him; his face was still very pale.

Fortunately, the bullet was successfully removed.

“Luckily, it didn’t hurt the bones and tendons, otherwise, who knows when it would have healed.”

She breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed the gauze, and started bandaging him bit by bit.

“Sorry.” Guisu suddenly said softly.

“At this moment, shouldn’t you be saying thank you? Why are you apologizing?”

Baili Xia smiled nonchalantly.

“I dragged you into this, Sima Liuyue’s target should’ve only been me.”

“No, she wants to kill me, with or without you, it’s the same.” Baili Xia continued to focus on bandaging him.

Occasionally, she looked up at him and gave a faint smile.

“Really, you wouldn’t believe it even if I told you; I have no grievances with her, but from her occasional slip of gaze, I could feel she truly wanted to kill me.”

“I believe it.” How could Lu Xuening not want to kill her?

She has wanted to kill her for a long time!

Baili Xia was slightly taken aback, glancing up at him again: “Don’t be so serious, it’s rather scary.”

She chuckled and continued to bandage him.

Guisu didn’t say anything further, his gaze shifted towards the small window.

There’s just this one small window in the room; looking outside from it, one could easily see that the night was deep.

Eventually, Baili Xia finished bandaging his wound completely.

While she was tidying up, the door was knocked three times, and Mrs.

Chen entered with a basin of hot water.

Seeing Baili Xia had tended to Guisu’s wound, Mrs.

Chen couldn’t help but praise her again.

“Miss Lu is so capable, kind-hearted, and so beautiful; whoever gets to marry you will truly be blessed.”

“Auntie, please don’t tease me.” Baili Xia raised her hand, wiping the sweat off her face.

She immediately stepped forward, taking the hot towel from Mrs.

Chen’s hand.

Sitting back down beside the chair, she wiped Guisu’s face: “Mrs. Chen, have you contacted Mr. Bei?”

Guisu was dumbfounded, not expecting her to wipe his face personally.

This act seemed so habitual; she just paused momentarily, and the hot towel was already on his face.

From childhood to adulthood, no one ever took care of him like this…

Baili Xia didn’t notice his difference, still focusing on Mrs.

Chen.

“They said they’d send someone over immediately, I think Mr. Bei’s people will arrive soon.”

Baili Xia breathed a sigh of relief, wiping off the blood stains on Guisu’s face and arms, she turned back to look at Mrs.

Chen.

“I’m no longer the Lu Family’s young lady, Auntie, from now on, just call me Xiaxia.”

“Why? Is it Mr. Lu…”

Mrs.

Chen sighed, her face full of helplessness.

“Mr.

Lu has never been good to you since you were little, every time you did good deeds as a child, would Mr.

Lu be there to…

him…”

She sighed again, looking at Baili Xia with nothing but pity in her eyes: “Don’t be sad, he doesn’t acknowledge you as his daughter, it’s his misfortune.”
