For the sake of his own reputation, Uncle should also take the initiative to step forward and request a paternity test to prove himself.

But Uncle, why hasn’t he said a word?

And the old man’s attitude…

Is the old man just trying not to hurt Uncle, or does he have other intentions?

The temperature in the dining room suddenly dropped, and no one dared to speak or even breathe loudly.

Only Mu Xiaojiu calmly continued to eat.

After a while, Mu Dongyu cautiously asked, “Dad, since you’re so certain, why don’t we arrange for another paternity test so everyone can…”

Before he could finish, he was silenced by the old man’s icy glare.

Though the old man has aged and no longer manages many affairs in recent years,

he has always governed the family with strictness, and from top to bottom, except for Mu Xiaojiu, no one in the Mu family isn’t afraid of him.

“I’ll say this one last time, anyone who mentions a paternity test again can get out of the Mu family and have nothing more to do with us.”

Finally, he added, “I absolutely trust Jiu. Stop your wild thoughts that might disturb the harmony of the Mu family and give other families a chance to exploit.”

Mu Dongyu and Mu Haoguo, seeing that the old man’s words were final, dared not provoke him further.

They stood awkwardly, neither able to stand nor sit.

At this moment, Mu Xiaojiu stood up, wiping his hands with a napkin, looking as though he was particularly satisfied with the meal.

He glanced at Baili Xia and said lightly, “Come to the room. I’ll tell you what you asked me earlier.”

Baili Xia, feeling oppressed by the tense atmosphere in the dining room, found it hard to breathe.

Upon hearing Mu Xiaojiu’s words, she quickly nodded and stood up.

She greeted the old man and obediently followed Mu Xiaojiu upstairs.

The subject of everyone’s discussion left so blatantly.

Watching his nonchalant figure, Mu Dongyu and Mu Haoguo were nearly exploding with anger.

But they were helpless.

After Mu Xiaojiu had left, Mu Dongyu glanced at Mu Xiaoyao, who still sat in his seat, looking dissatisfied.

This son hadn’t said a word from beginning to end earlier.

Not helping his father was one thing, but getting closer to Mu Xiaojiu than to himself!

“You’re always hanging around with him; you might as well just follow him and not recognize me as your dad,” Mu Dongyu fumed, wondering how any son could act like this.

Mu Xiaoyao furrowed his brow but soon relaxed it.

After all, he could understand his father’s vexation.

Once these matters were settled, such worries would be resolved; it’s all temporary.

He stood up, stretched, and said calmly, “Don’t involve me in your matters. I won’t care.”

With that, he greeted the old man and left.

Mu Dongyu watched his son’s retreating back, feeling a bit stifled.

However, grudges between father and son can’t last overnight; on reflection, he let it go.

This kid had been close to Mu Xiaojiu since young; he couldn’t control it even if he wanted to.

Being too controlling would only harm the father-son relationship.

He glanced at Mu Haoguo, and Mu Haoguo happened to look back.

The two of them nodded to each other, plotting silently.

After a while, as if they had discussed it, they spoke in unison, “Dad, our losses are real and can’t just be written off.”

“Yes, Dad, please reconsider this matter.”

As soon as they finished speaking, the old man slammed the dining table with force.

“Get out,” he roared, “clean up your own mess, and don’t come back until it’s done!”
