“I’m looking for Uncle, I have something I want to ask him.”

Baili Xia didn’t explain much, turning around and walking towards the hall entrance.

Ye Hua didn’t ask further, after all, the matters between Miss Xiaxia and Mr.

Xiaojiu belong solely to them.

When she reached the staircase, Baili Xia suddenly turned back and looked at Ye Hua.

“Do you also have something to ask Uncle?

If not, I’ll wait until you finish before I…”

“Just a routine check, to see if Mr.

Xiaojiu needs anything.”

Ye Hua smiled, interrupting her: “Miss Xiaxia, go on up, I’m fine, I won’t go up.”

“Alright.” She nodded, it was clear the conversation she intended to have with Mu Xiaojiu tonight, she didn’t want anyone else present.

She walked up the stairs, making her way to the second floor via the spiral staircase.

Ye Hua remained standing at the staircase, watching that slender figure gradually disappear from his sight.

He didn’t know why, but tonight, he felt Miss Xiaxia seemed a bit different.

As if she had become quieter, more profound?

Was it because he was hiding something from her, feeling uneasy inside, or had she actually changed?

…

Upstairs, Baili Xia stood outside the door, raising her hand, but didn’t knock on the door immediately.

Uncle was inside, even if she hadn’t seen him, she roughly knew he must be sitting at his desk, busying himself.

He was always this busy…

Baili Xia stood like this outside the door, her hand lifted, yet she didn’t knock.

She didn’t know how long she stood there, when suddenly, a man’s deep voice came from inside.

“Since you’re here, why are you standing at the door? Am I that scary?”

Baili Xia gasped, her legs almost gave out.

Could Uncle not be this sharp, she was just standing there, and he already knew.

He even knew who had come.

In less than half a second, she had composed her expression.

Without knocking, she walked straight in.

Indeed, Mu Xiaojiu was sitting behind the desk, still busy, and even knowing she’d entered the room, he didn’t look up.

He ignored her, and Baili Xia couldn’t find an opening line.

So the two of them, one standing and the other sitting, neither spoke first.

The silence made the atmosphere in the room increasingly eerie.

She didn’t know how much time passed, but finally, Mu Xiaojiu looked up, gazing at the girl standing in the middle of the room.

“What’s wrong? You came in but didn’t speak, not feeling well?”

Upon hearing his voice, seeing the tenderness for her in his eyes, that familiar feeling finally returned to the tip of Baili Xia’s heart.

Though her heart was full of questions, she always wanted to convince herself that Uncle was still the same Uncle.

Uncle would never harm her.

But Ning Anran and Ye Hua’s words still lingered in her mind constantly…

She walked over, habitually moving to his side.

Her mind slightly in disarray, she softly said, “Earlier, when I came in, I saw Ning Anran leaving, Uncle…”

“Hmm?” Mu Xiaojiu leaned back in his chair, leisurely watching her face.

“Did Ning Anran come to see you? What did she want with you?” Baili Xia couldn’t help but voice her doubts.

“Did she come to see me?” Mu Xiaojiu continued looking at her, expressionless, “Are you sure she wasn’t looking for Ye Hua?”

Baili Xia pressed her lips together, shook her head, and said nothing.

She was sure that Ning Anran wasn’t there for Ye Hua, because she had clearly heard their conversation.

But it was obvious that Uncle didn’t intend to tell her the truth.

The less he spoke, the more chaotic her mind became.

Really confused…
