Baili Xia could tell that the apology was sincere.

The compassion in Brother’s eyes was real too.

This kind of Brother made her nose sting, and she almost couldn’t hold back her tears.

Why did such a thing happen after she completely trusted them?

When Uncle and Ning Anran conspired, did Brother know about it too?

Brother…

knew Uncle so well, even often helping him with things.

How could he not know?

The only one who didn’t know was herself…

“What’s wrong? Are you still uneasy?”

Seeing her red eyes, Mu Xiaoyao raised his hand and gently rubbed her head.

“Don’t worry, wait for me a moment. I’ll wash up and go down to have breakfast with you.”

Only then did Baili Xia notice that Mu Xiaoyao was still in his pajamas, with tousled hair.

The thought that she had interrupted Mu Xiaoyao’s sleep made her feel a slight pang of guilt.

But what she didn’t expect was that she hadn’t knocked on the door at all; how did Mu Xiaoyao know she was outside?

Brother’s hearing was even better than she imagined, and Uncle’s must be even better.

They…

each one more impressive than the last.

How long could she hold on in front of them?

Baili Xia shook her head and said, “I’m fine now, really.

You should go back and get some sleep.”

“I just had a nightmare last night, and when I woke up and couldn’t see Uncle, I wanted to find someone.

Now that I’ve seen you, I feel much better.”

After saying that, she forced a smile and turned to go downstairs.

Seeing Mu Xiaoyao standing at the door watching her, showing no intention of going back to sleep.

She glanced back at him and said, “Go rest. I’m going down to eat by myself.”

This time, she didn’t stop and turned to head downstairs.

Mu Xiaoyao saw that the uneasy expression was gone from Baili Xia’s face, and he finally felt relieved, turning back into the room.

After washing up, he would accompany this girl properly today, perhaps that would cheer her up.

Recently, too many things had happened in the Mu family; this girl must have been in low spirits for too long.

…

Baili Xia went downstairs, instinctively wanting to head to Grandfather’s room.

Unable to ask Brother for help, she no longer knew who she could trust in the entire Mu family.

Now, she could only go look for Grandfather and figure it out once she found him.

She wasn’t sure if Ning Anran was by Grandfather’s side today; she was really afraid…

But she had just turned around and hadn’t even taken a step when she heard Feng Gang calling for the Old Master from the side hall.

Grandfather was in the side hall…

Without thinking, Baili Xia immediately walked toward the side hall.

Upon reaching the side hall, she saw only two figures by the dining table, Grandfather and Ning Anran.

Feng Gang retreated to a distance, not disturbing them.

Ning Anran sat beside Grandfather, chatting and laughing with him.

Though she didn’t know what they were talking about, from the smile on Grandfather’s face, he seemed very happy at the moment.

They must have just arrived as well, and the servants were busy bringing breakfast over.

Baili Xia slowly walked into the dining room, greeting Grandfather.

Seeing Grandfather well, she finally felt a bit relieved, carefully masking her anxiety and unease.

“Grandfather…” She paused, before finally asking, “Are you feeling okay?”

Grandfather smiled gently at her and said, “I’m fine. Come, Xiaxia, sit down and have breakfast together.”
