Baili Xia looked at him calmly, without a trace of fear in her eyes.

“If I hadn’t heard it with my own ears, I would have been kept in the dark too.”

She looked at the elderly gentleman and solemnly said, “Last night, when I returned to Sihai Residence, I saw Ning Anran going to find Uncle. I felt it was strange, so I eavesdropped on their conversation at the staircase.”

A flicker of unease appeared in the elderly gentleman’s eyes as he looked up at Feng Gang.

Feng Gang was frowning intensely, contemplating something.

Under the current circumstances, theoretically, Ning Anran should not have gone to see Mu Xiaojiu.

However, the certainty in Baili Xia’s demeanor did not seem like she was lying.

But since Baili Xia was close to Mu Xiaojiu, why would she tell them these things?

“What did you hear?” the elderly gentleman tried to calm himself down and asked casually.

“Ning Anran and Uncle talked about the forged report, but I can’t explain much.

I don’t know how they did it.”

“However, the report is fake, I am certain.”

As long as the report is false, then many things can be explained clearly.

Many things can become apparent at a glance.

The elderly gentleman frowned deeply, contemplating who was true and who was false.

This enormous secret, Baili Xia dared to say this in front of him, had already risked her own life.

If the elderly gentleman didn’t believe her, then she would surely die.

But, this girl being so close with Mu Xiaojiu, what if this was deliberately arranged by Mu Xiaojiu?

“How can we believe that what you’re saying is true?” Suddenly, Feng Gang asked.

Feng Gang was unsure and could only probe further.

Baili Xia’s gaze fell on him, and she calmly said, “You don’t have to believe me, but just in case, you must investigate this report.”

“If it’s difficult to check, you can do another paternity test with Ning Anran, just make sure no one else knows about it, otherwise I’m afraid…”

Feng Gang knew what she meant, and he nodded lightly, lowering his head in thought.

Baili Xia looked up at the elderly gentleman, whose gaze was set in the distance without focus, clearly still hesitating.

She continued, “I know, there’s no way to immediately confirm what I’m saying is true, but I couldn’t not come.”

The elderly gentleman’s eyes shifted over, resting on Baili Xia.

“Why?”

“Because those poisons you were inflicted with…” she bit her lip before firmly stating, “were all administered by Ning Anran.”

Baili Xia watched him, her voice somewhat agitated.

“The poison is slow-acting, but I can’t wait any longer. I’m afraid next time, she’ll use a heavier dose…”

The elderly gentleman’s hand trembled slightly, finally understanding why Baili Xia would take such a risk to tell him this.

She was merely out of concern for his safety!

Did she know that he previously really wasn’t sure whether to believe her or not?

She wasn’t even sure if he would believe her, yet she dared to tell him these things!

The elderly gentleman looked up at Feng Gang, who happened to be looking at him as well.

Clearly, both were taken aback by Baili Xia’s words.

The first time the elderly gentleman was poisoned, after the doctor’s examination, they were told it was a slow-acting poison.

He had been poisoned not just for a day or two, but by long-term ingestion of poison, accumulating over time until the toxins built up and caused a reaction.

The elderly gentleman had instructed the doctor not to mention his poisoning to anyone, not even to Ning Anran.
