Baili Xia had something on her mind and didn’t realize it until she had already crossed the deck and entered the cabin.

It was only when she got there that she woke up and looked around, discovering that in such a large restaurant, except for the waitstaff, there wasn’t a single guest.

Uncle had indeed instructed the restaurant not to entertain any guests tonight to dine here with her.

No wonder he said it was absolutely safe here now.

It’s likely that Uncle’s people are already secretly lying in wait in places unseen.

Mu Xiaojiu led her to a window seat inside the cabin and sat down.

A waiter approached and respectfully said to Mu Xiaojiu, “Mr. Mu, do you think we can start serving the dishes?”

Mu Xiaojiu nodded slightly, and the waiter withdrew.

From this window, one could see the entire beachfront’s night view.

But Baili Xia wasn’t in the mood to appreciate it.

Ever since she learned about Mu Xiaojiu and Ning Anran’s secret plan yesterday, her heart had been heavy.

Uncle was still the same Uncle; he hadn’t changed from his usual self.

But now, in Baili Xia’s eyes, it all seemed like a disguise.

Recalling the past, when Uncle had once risked his life to save her, her heart felt sour.

Risking his life couldn’t be a pretense, but why did he deceive her in this way and hurt her only family member?

He could take back everything that belonged to the Mu family, but did he have to harm Grandpa’s life in doing so?

Even if it was Ning Anran’s doing, without Uncle backing her, giving her such audacity, she wouldn’t dare.

Uncle…

does he really have to take Grandpa’s life?

Baili Xia would occasionally steal glances at Mu Xiaojiu.

This man, the only one she loved and the one she liked the most, was destined to stand opposed to her.

Baili Xia’s odd behavior hadn’t gone unnoticed by Mu Xiaojiu.

Now seeing her not speaking, ignoring the beautiful scenery outside the window, instead focusing her gaze within the cabin.

Mu Xiaojiu finally couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?

What exactly is going on?”

“Is it that being driven out by the old man today still makes you uncomfortable?”

He looked at her calmly and said, “If you like, after dinner, I’ll take you back.”

“No, I…

I don’t want to go back.”

Baili Xia lifted her head and met his gaze.

His eyes were so sincere, so clear without any impurity.

For a moment, her mind was in a daze, her thoughts in complete disarray.

Uncle, what exactly does he want to do?

“If I ask you now why you approached me initially, would you tell me?”

In a moment of impulse, Baili Xia finally asked.

Mu Xiaojiu’s bright eyes narrowed slightly, intently gazing into Baili Xia’s eyes, trying to discern what she was thinking.

“Didn’t you say we could trust each other? Why won’t you tell me?”

Since the conversation had reached this point, Baili Xia could no longer hold back.

She looked at Mu Xiaojiu intently.

Uncle…

would he really give her an answer?

If he was willing, if he could truly trust her, she could guarantee that she would persuade Grandpa to return everything to him that belonged to the Mu family.

Grandpa is old; he can’t manage things for many years anyway.

He wouldn’t have much impact on Uncle.

“What’s wrong with you?” Mu Xiaojiu seemed to notice something.

“I’m asking you a question.

Answer me first,” she insisted, “Uncle, can’t you really tell me?”
