Watching the old man’s car slowly drive away, Baili Xia finally regained her composure and walked toward the front yard.

Zimo’s room window was in the backyard, not far from her room.

Afraid that Mu Xiaoyao would see her, she planned to slip into Zimo’s room first and then go out.

Unexpectedly, just as she exited the garage door, she suddenly caught sight of a tall silhouette leaning against a large tree outside.

“Brother…” Baili Xia called out woodenly, a chilling fear instantly gripping her heart.

It was obvious that Mu Xiaoyao was standing there waiting for her.

He must already know that she just went to see the old man, right?

Mu Xiaoyao did not speak, merely watching her quietly, with a somewhat complex expression on his face.

“Brother, I just came over, just came over…”

She nervously tried to come up with a reason, but searched her entire mind and couldn’t think of a plausible explanation.

Moreover, the old man’s car had just left, and she had come out of the garage right after.

There was no need to explain what she had been doing before.

Her brother was not so foolish as to be unable to see through all of this.

“Come on, let’s go see Uncle.”

Mu Xiaoyao had no intention of giving her a chance to explain; he spoke indifferently, his voice devoid of warmth.

After saying that, he turned and walked toward the front yard.

Baili Xia was very afraid; this brother was very different from usual.

Her brother was always very protective of her.

But on this matter, he wouldn’t give her a chance to explain…

“Brother.” She caught up with him, “Don’t tell Uncle, I beg you.”

“Impossible.” Mu Xiaoyao didn’t even turn his head, his voice cold and hard.

Baili Xia’s heart went cold as well.

No matter how much he usually cared for her, once she had a conflict with Uncle, her brother would unhesitatingly side with Uncle.

She had no choice but to follow Mu Xiaoyao and walk to the front yard together.

Knowing full well that even if she didn’t want to go, he would carry her over if he had to.

Since her brother already knew, she might as well see Uncle first.

Out of the front yard, the two went directly back to Sihai Residence.

The entire way, they did not speak a word to each other, nor was there anything to say.

Sihai Residence was terrifyingly quiet today.

Perhaps it was Uncle’s intention; there was not a single servant to be seen in the entire hall of Sihai Residence.

Baili Xia carefully followed behind Mu Xiaoyao, not daring to make a sound under the oppressive atmosphere.

Entering the hall, curling smoke drifted through the air.

Mu Xiaojiu was sitting on the sofa, with Ye Hua standing behind him, watching Baili Xia enter.

A cigar was between Mu Xiaojiu’s fingers, the thin strands of smoke enveloping him, obscuring the expression on his face.

In fact, Baili Xia didn’t need to see clearly to feel the chill emanating from him.

Uncle was extremely angry, more so than ever before.

Mu Xiaoyao stopped at the doorway, gave Baili Xia a faint glance, and sat down on the steps at the entrance.

It was clear that he was also troubled.

Baili Xia walked in by herself, and stopping a few meters from Mu Xiaojiu, she softly called out, “Uncle…”

Mu Xiaojiu only turned his head slightly to glance at her but didn’t respond.

He lifted his hand, took a deep drag on the cigar, and after a while, slowly exhaled.

Then he turned back, his gaze falling on a sand timer on the coffee table.

The switch on the timer had been turned on at some unknown time, and the sand at the top was slowly trickling down.

What is Uncle waiting for?

Baili Xia’s heart involuntarily tightened.

Usually, at this time, Uncle would not stay at Sihai Residence.

Today…

does he have a plan against Grandpa?
