Mu Xiaojiu said nothing, got out of the car, and strode toward the elevator hall.

Ye Hua also followed into the elevator hall, immediately pressing the button for the eighth floor.

There were other people in the elevator, but sensing the cold aura emanating from Mu Xiaojiu, they all exited on the first floor.

The winter was cold enough, but with an added icy presence, the temperature in the elevator felt like it had suddenly dropped to minus ten degrees.

Who could bear it?

The elevator reached the eighth floor, and as soon as they stepped out, they saw the police officer already waiting at the elevator door.

Upon seeing Mu Xiaojiu, a trace of panic flashed across the police officer’s eyes.

“Mr. Xiaojiu,” he called respectfully.

Mu Xiaojiu did not respond, asking coldly, “Where is the person…

the corpse?”

“This way.” The officer hurriedly gestured to the right and turned to lead them in that direction.

As they walked, he explained, “The officer on duty just reported the entire incident to me in detail.”

“Tonight after dinner, Baili Yang accidentally fell from the stairs on the second floor while coming down from the cafeteria.”

“By the time he fell to the first floor, he was already on the ground, sweating, with cold limbs.”

“He was rushed to the hospital, but who knew, the doctor said it was a heart attack.”

“But it was too late during the rescue, and he couldn’t be saved.”

Mu Xiaojiu’s facial expression remained icy, without a ripple, but his footsteps quickened.

After a few steps, he suddenly asked, “Where is Feng Gang?”

The officer was startled, solemnly saying, “Feng Gang was there when it happened, but he was too emotional.

We were afraid it would affect Baili Yang’s treatment, so we detained him.”

He added, “He’s still in the detention center now.”

Mu Xiaojiu just listened, and soon, the three of them arrived at the morgue.

The officer opened the door to the morgue, and a doctor immediately came out to greet them.

Seeing Mu Xiaojiu, he called, “Mr. Xiaojiu.”

Mu Xiaojiu nodded faintly and did not respond.

“Come, take Mr. Xiaojiu to see Baili Yang,” the officer said.

The doctor nodded and led them inside the morgue.

Inside the cold, dark morgue, a row of refrigeration cabinets stood against the wall.

The doctor checked the labels on each cabinet, found Baili Yang’s, and pulled it out.

Baili Yang’s body was covered with a layer of white cloth, lying motionless on the bed.

At this moment, Mu Xiaojiu didn’t know what he was feeling, only a sense of suffocation in his chest.

Although this was his enemy, it was impossible to say there were no feelings at all.

From a young age, he could feel Baili Yang’s care for him.

Every time he made a mistake, Baili Yang would patiently guide him.

One could say that Mu Xuri trained his will and skills.

But much of his knowledge and understanding of the ways of life were learned from Baili Yang.

He slowly walked over, stood by the corpse for a long time before reaching out and slowly lifting the white cloth.

Baili Yang’s face was only slightly pale, looking no different from usual.

A person who was fine just two days ago was now separated by life and death.

Before seeking revenge, he had thought of a hundred ways to kill him.

But now that he was dead, Mu Xiaojiu felt an indescribable heaviness in his heart.

He stood beside Baili Yang’s corpse and slowly closed his eyes, memories flashing through his mind.

All these years, if he hadn’t had the obsession to avenge his father in his heart.

Could he really have hated Baili Yang so completely after twenty years of knowing each other?
