Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1714
When Mu Xiaojiu and Ye Hua arrived at the officer’s office, Mu Xiaoyao had just shown up.
Upon hearing about Baili Yang’s incident, his mood was hardly better than Mu Xiaojiu’s.
After all, besides Uncle, the person he was closest to in the Mu family was the old man.
The emotions built over all these years were not something one could simply let go of.
His heart ached painfully upon hearing the news, more than he had imagined.
It was the first time Mu Xiaoyao began to question whether everything he had done in the past was right or wrong.
He started to lose the ability to distinguish; how does one measure right from wrong?
If she knew about her grandfather…
could she still live well?
Uncle said to check the surveillance footage.
Could it be that this incident wasn’t merely a simple heart attack?
Mu Xiaojiu gave Mu Xiaoyao a faint nod upon seeing him, then followed the officer to the surveillance room.
A few people entered the surveillance room where a staff member was ready with the main unit, handing it directly to them.
Mu Xiaoyao sat down at a chair while the others stood behind him watching the images on the screen.
He opened his computer, placing it to the side.
Locating the footage from the time of Baili Yang’s incident, he began to play it.
The area where the incident occurred was covered by a single surveillance camera, capturing Baili Yang coming out of the cafeteria and walking down the stairs.
The video showed Baili Yang suddenly clutching his chest just as he took a step and then falling, tumbling down the stairs.
Finally, he landed on the ground floor.
The whole incident happened within less than ten seconds.
Mu Xiaoyao copied the video, stored it on his computer, and opened it with professional video software, playing it frame by frame.
After replaying it over ten times, he turned back to Mu Xiaojiu, gently shaking his head.
Mu Xiaojiu understood that there was nothing wrong with this video.
Once verified by Mu Xiaoyao, there would certainly be no mistake.
Was it really just a sudden heart attack?
Mu Xiaoyao suddenly said to the staff, “Find all the videos from the cameras along Baili Yang’s previous route.”
The staff looked at the officer, who nodded and told him to do as Mu Xiaoyao said.
He sifted through the computer and also retrieved footage from cameras in the cafeteria.
Mu Xiaoyao’s fingers danced rapidly over the keyboard, quickly finding the video’s time frame prior to the incident.
Again, he copied it to his computer, played it frame by frame over ten times but still came away empty-handed.
The entire morning was spent in the surveillance room without even caring about having breakfast.
Yet the morning yielded no results; there was no anomaly in the footage.
Mu Xiaojiu raised his hand, rubbed his weary face vigorously, and let out a long sigh.
Perhaps things really were that simple.
He had really thought Mu Xuri was behind it, contemplating all night about what he would do if that were the case.
At this moment, the huge stone in his heart finally settled.
Leaving the surveillance room, Mu Xiaojiu’s mood was still heavy.
The three walked slowly towards the parking lot, each consumed by their own thoughts.
Mu Xiaoyao finally couldn’t hold back and asked, “How do you plan to tell her?”
Mu Xiaojiu stopped in his tracks, contemplated for a few seconds, then lightly shook his head and said faintly, “Let’s not tell her for now.”
“You can’t hide it for long; she might come to see him at any time.”
Mu Xiaojiu knew he couldn’t keep it from her, but at this moment, he truly didn’t know how to face that girl.
