Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1718
The maid stared at Baili Xia’s face, her thoughts unconsciously drifting far away.
When her thoughts returned, she suddenly discovered that Baili Xia’s eyes were already open.
“Ah…” the maid softly exclaimed, startled by Baili Xia’s suddenly opened eyes.
What a coincidence, Mr.
Nangong had just left, and Miss Xiaxia woke up.
Coming to her senses, she quickly stood up and approached the bedside.
“Miss Xiaxia, you’re finally awake!”
Baili Xia just stared with her eyes open, without any response.
She was blankly looking at the ceiling above the bed, with no expression on her face.
The maid came to the bedside, seeing Baili Xia’s cold demeanor, a slight fear crept into her heart.
“Miss Xiaxia, how are you?”
“Miss Xiaxia?”
But Baili Xia just lay there, not moving an inch.
The maid grew more anxious, she bent down quickly to see what had happened to Baili Xia.
To her surprise, just as she bent down, Baili Xia’s hand suddenly shot up.
The maid couldn’t dodge in time, Baili Xia’s palm struck the back of her neck, and the maid collapsed onto the bed.
Baili Xia gently pushed the maid, and when she saw she was completely unconscious, she then sat up on the bed.
She had actually been awake for a while, planning in her mind how to leave this room.
She needed to investigate the truth behind her grandfather’s murder.
She did not believe her grandfather died from a simple heart attack; there had to be hidden matters.
But with Mu Xiaojiu and Nangong Xu always around, she dared not make any move.
If they discovered she was awake, she’d have no chance to get out and investigate.
Baili Xia moved the maid onto the bed, covered her with a blanket, and hurriedly went to the window.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she opened the window and jumped down using the heavenly silkworm silk from her bracelet.
Landing on the ground, Baili Xia immediately climbed over the wall out of the Sihai Residence’s courtyard.
Having lived in the Mu Mansion for so long, she was very familiar with the surroundings and knew exactly where all the surveillance cameras were.
In less than ten minutes, she was already outside the Mu Mansion.
Once outside, she suddenly felt a bit lost, unsure how to get to the detention center.
It’s quite a distance to the detention center from here.
The Mu Mansion is located halfway up the mountain, in a relatively remote area, making it difficult to find a taxi.
Usually, the Mu family driver would take her out, but today she dared not alarm them.
Baili Xia had no choice but to walk down the road towards the mountain, constantly keeping an eye out for passing vehicles.
After walking for a while, a bus finally passed by.
Seeing a young woman walking alone, the driver kindly stopped the bus to let her on.
Baili Xia reached the city and found a taxi to drive straight to the detention center where Baili Yang had previously been held.
On the bus, she had already planned how to investigate her grandfather’s murder.
She first decided to check the surveillance footage; she had to see for herself what really happened.
The taxi stopped across the street from the detention center, and Baili Xia got out but did not immediately go in.
She gazed at the gates of the detention center, recalling the scenes of her previous meetings with Baili Yang there.
In truth, she felt a bit panicked and somewhat lost.
She still refused to believe that her grandfather was gone, gone forever.
The last time they met, her grandfather was still in good health, and now, just a few days later, they were separated by life and death.
Baili Xia took a deep breath and finally took steps toward the entrance.
