Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1749
Mu Xiaojiu walked into the dining room and turned around just in time to see Baili Xia making a funny face at his back.
That expression…
A warmth spread through his heart, and his eyes were tinged with a hint of delight: “Cursing me in secret again?”
“No!” Baili Xia shook her head quickly and denied it: “Uncle, you’re so handsome that any girl would be head over heels for you. Who would want to curse you?”
No sooner had she said this than she regretted it, wishing she could bite her tongue off.
What kind of nonsense was she spouting?
Saying such things to Uncle early in the morning—wasn’t she flirting with him?
He is Uncle, a senior, regardless of how young, a senior is a senior.
How could she be so improper, even flirting with a senior?
What’s more terrifying is that Mu Xiaojiu was actually standing by the chair, looking back seriously at her.
“Does what you just said count as flirting with me?”
“…” Baili Xia bit her lip and quickly glanced up at him.
Blushing, she immediately lowered her head again: “I wouldn’t dare, it was just…
a joke.”
“So, saying I’m handsome was just a joke too?” He raised an eyebrow, seemingly a bit dissatisfied.
“No, no, that’s not what I meant, Uncle…”
Baili Xia’s breathing started to become erratic again.
Why was Uncle fixated on her words?
Could it be, she had offended him before?
But Uncle doesn’t seem angry…
Finally, Mu Xiaojiu sat down on the chair and stopped troubling her.
A servant approached, bowed his head, and softly asked, “Mr. Xiaojiu, should breakfast start now?”
Mr.
Mu went to the backyard and hasn’t returned yet, so they need to ask Mr.
Xiaojiu for confirmation.
Mu Xiaojiu nodded and glanced at Baili Xia: “What would you like to eat?”
“Anything, I’m not picky,” Baili Xia responded immediately.
Mu Xiaojiu said nothing, and the servant quickly instructed others to serve breakfast.
Watching the breakfast being served one after another, Baili Xia’s eyes widened.
Such a lavish breakfast could rival a high-end restaurant’s buffet.
“How can we finish all this?” She was dumbfounded.
“You’ve slept so long, you’re malnourished. Eat more.”
Mu Xiaojiu picked up the newspaper from the rack beside the table, sipping coffee as he read the morning paper.
“Uncle, you look severely sleep-deprived, you should eat more too.”
Baili Xia’s gentle voice came through.
Mu Xiaojiu paused, glancing at her lightly.
He had thought it through the whole night: since she had forgotten him, he would let her live peacefully for some time.
He wouldn’t force her or deliberately remind her of anything, as long as she was happy.
This was better than when she faced him in silence, like a puppet.
At least now she smiles, she talks, and she no longer looks at him with eyes filled with hate and despair.
To him, all of this is already very good.
Even if she completely forgets the feelings they shared…
“Alright.” Putting down the newspaper, Mu Xiaojiu glanced at her again before focusing on his meal.
Baili Xia breathed a sigh of relief.
With the senior starting to eat, she didn’t hold back either.
She quickly picked up a small fork and started eating happily.
Shortly after, Mu Xiaoyao returned from outside, bringing with him a breath of sunny air.
He saw Baili Xia and Mu Xiaojiu quietly sitting by the dining table, eating without a word.
This harmonious scene unexpectedly warmed his heart slightly too.
Things were quite good this way, weren’t they?
