This girl, her courage is really getting bigger.

No, it should be that her face is getting thicker; she doesn’t even avoid questions like these.

“Brother, are you, are you done?”

Watching Mu Xiaoyao walk over, Baili Xia felt inexplicably flustered.

Is this the feeling of a heartbeat?

Is this how people in love feel?

Is this the uncertainty about what will happen next?

Mu Xiaoyao looked at her and lightly shook his head.

Work, when is there ever a time it’s finished?

“Oh, then I won’t disturb you, I’m leaving. Brother, rest early!”

Baili Xia hurriedly threw out a few words and was about to turn and leave.

Mu Xiaoyao stepped forward, grabbed her hand, and pulled her back gently.

“What did you want to see me about?”

Coming and going immediately isn’t like her; he thought she must have something urgent.

But tonight, Baili Xia really didn’t have anything, she just came to see him casually.

His voice was surprisingly calm, and when Baili Xia looked into his eyes, they were as calm as a still pond.

Am I overthinking, going insane after waking up?

Brother didn’t mean that—it’s just me overthinking.

“It’s nothing, I just came over from Uncle’s place, he finally fell asleep.”

“Walked outside and saw you weren’t asleep, just thought I’d check in.”

Mu Xiaoyao nodded lightly, saying nothing.

Regarding Uncle’s matters, he wouldn’t say anything.

Especially the current delicate relationship between this girl and Uncle.

What Uncle plans for the future, he doesn’t know.

He only knows that Uncle asked him to protect her, and he will, until they no longer need him.

Seeing Mu Xiaoyao not speaking, Baili Xia opened up: “Brother, can I ask you something about Uncle?”

Mu Xiaoyao’s fingers trembled slightly; what does this girl want to ask about Uncle?

He wouldn’t lie to her about what she asks, but there are things he cannot say.

At this moment, Mu Xiaoyao felt a tinge of nervousness.

Please don’t make him lie, he’s not good at it.

“What do you want to know?” he spoke calmly.

Baili Xia steadied herself, like she was gathering courage, and then looked at him seriously.

“I don’t know why, but I feel Uncle is quite lonely.”

“In his life, besides work, it’s just work, always alone.”

Seeing the confusion in Mu Xiaoyao’s eyes, she explained: “You all are there, but you’re all a bunch of men, how can you keep him company for conversation?”

Mu Xiaoyao certainly didn’t understand such matters; he himself is of the same type as Uncle, hardly giving it much thought.

“Men, isn’t doing good work enough?” Mu Xiaoyao retorted.

“Of course not, life isn’t just about work.

There are many other things, traveling, dating, and so much more.”

Baili Xia continued: “I just want to ask why Uncle hasn’t found a girlfriend all these years?”

Mu Xiaoyao’s eyes flickered slightly, a hint of something passing through his mind.

Uncle does have a girlfriend, or once had a girlfriend, but she doesn’t know that now.

He asked, “How do you know Uncle hasn’t found a girlfriend in all these years?”

Baili Xia raised her hand, gently rubbing her head.

She shook her head, a touch of pity appearing on her face.

“I don’t know why I think so; spending time with him always makes me feel like he’s a solitary person.”

“The feeling he gives me is that all these years, he’s been going through life alone.”
