“Knock, knock, knock,” Mu Xiaoyao pondered for a moment, then continued knocking on the door, his knocks light.

The girl had said that it was hard for Uncle to fall asleep, and he didn’t want to wake him up again.

But after knocking for a long time, Baili Xia still didn’t come to open the door for him.

Mu Xiaoyao felt a bit helpless, with a mix of emotions in his heart.

The tears glistening in Baili Xia’s eyes as she left always tugged at his heart, unable to ease the grip.

If he didn’t see her get better with his own eyes, he probably wouldn’t sleep all night tonight.

But there was no way to coax Baili Xia now.

She didn’t even give him a chance, not even allowing him inside.

Mu Xiaoyao had no choice but to stand there, like a Door Keeper, guarding the doorway.

He stopped knocking, not wanting to disturb anyone, and just quietly waited…

Baili Xia lay on the bed, tears streaming endlessly from the corners of her eyes.

Only when the tears dried up, and a large part of the bedding was soaked, did she finally stop.

There was no more sound outside the door; perhaps Brother had already left.

She didn’t know how to accept what Brother said, even if she knew that’s how he was, that’s the way he talked.

But, could it really go on like this for long?

Girls are all small-minded, knowing that there’s someone in Brother’s heart more important than oneself, who wouldn’t feel hurt?

Even if it’s his kin.

She let out a sigh, truly feeling helpless.

Brother getting along well with Uncle is a good thing, but sending her to Uncle…

What a jerk, so hateful!

Shouldn’t he learn how to be someone’s boyfriend properly?

Exhausted from crying, Baili Xia finally buried herself in the blanket and drifted into sleep…

…

It was a bit late coming back tonight.

By the time Mo finished a late-night snack and returned to the room, it was already past ten in the evening.

Not used to having maids serve her, she sent all the maids back who came to serve.

She took her pajamas and went into the bathroom, and soon, she came out after a shower.

But tonight, unexpectedly, as soon as she came out, she saw Mu Lingchuan sitting on the sofa in the room.

“Mr.

Mu?”

The term “Mu Lingchuan” was only used in front of others.

She had promised that, at the Mu family, she should at least appear closer to him.

He said it was all for the child.

Mo was broad-minded, accepting whatever he said.

But, in private, she still habitually called him Mr.

Mu.

Mu Lingchuan leaned against the sofa back, looking up at her.

To call him Mu Lingchuan seemed so reluctant, and now, the words Mr.

Mu appeared again.

He just kept staring at her, making Mo feel indescribably awkward.

“Mr. Mu, you came to me so late, is there something you need?”

Although he had been accompanying her every day these past few days, he had never disturbed her at night when she was about to sleep.

But tonight, at this hour…

Mo instinctively glanced at the clock on the wall; it was eleven—time to sleep.

“Can’t I just come to see you without a reason?” Mu Lingchuan felt a bit stifled.

All day long, he had been thinking about when their relationship could take the next step.

She didn’t know the meaning of marriage, only knowing that being married meant the child had a family, and the child would not be lost.

To her, that was good enough.

But his desires were not just for a child.

If it was just for a child, why marry her?

Did she understand at all?

“Come here.” Mu Lingchuan stretched out his long arm, gesturing for her to sit by his side.

Mo just felt awkward, as if he wanted to embrace her.

But wasn’t it agreed that during the day, holding her was just to make Xiaxia happy?

Now, Xiaxia wasn’t even here…
