Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 188: Behave Don't Move 01_1

Treasure her tonight?

“…” Baili Xia opened her big, watery eyes, shaking her head stiffly: “Mr.

Nangong said you, you need to rest well.”

“Are you avoiding me because my health is bad that you even cooked up a healing soup?”

How come she remembers so clearly what others say but forgets what he says?

This little rascal!

“N-no, Uncle is in the best of health.” Baili Xia immediately forced a laugh.

“Whether I’m in good health, don’t you know best?”

“…Where’s Ye Hua?

How come I didn’t see him tonight?” Not wanting to continue the awkward conversation, Baili Xia changed the subject.

“He went for a run.” Mu Xiaojiu lowered his head, continuing to drink his chicken soup.

The little creature’s cooking skills naturally couldn’t compare to those of the international top chefs at Sihai Residence.

However, this chicken soup, made by her personally, had a unique flavor.

Drinking it gave one a warm, blissful feeling.

So even though he usually had no love for soups, he finished it all that night.

“Running?” Baili Xia was a bit confused, “It’s already dark, hasn’t he come back for dinner yet?”

Usually, when at home, Ye Hua and Uncle would dine together.

Ye Hua’s position at Uncle’s side wasn’t low; this much could be seen.

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t say anything; he merely raised his eyebrow.

Baili Xia immediately clammed up, knowing that the Uncle doesn’t like it when she mentions others in front of him.

Halfway through dinner, it seemed that someone had entered the hall outside.

Baili Xia looked up, and with one glimpse, her face instantly turned red.

That…

‘flat-chested’ doctor…

When Nangong Xu entered, Baili Xia stared at him blankly.

However, he didn’t pay her any mind, greeted Mu Xiaojiu, and sat down at the dining table.

A servant brought him a pair of chopsticks, and he sat quietly, eating his meal.

All those seated here to dine were Uncle’s favourites.

This Nangong Xu appeared to be an important figure as well.

However, compared to Ye Hua, Nangong Xu was notably colder.

As both men remained silent, and Baili Xia still embarrassed by earlier incidents, she barely spoke throughout the meal.

After filling her stomach, she immediately stood up and looked at Mu Xiaojiu.

“Uncle, I missed a class today, I need to go back to study.”

“Why did you skip class?” Mu Xiaojiu put down his chopsticks and looked at her.

“Brother got into a fight, and I went to dress his wounds.”

It’s best not to lie in front of Uncle.

Besides, Brother’s fight had nothing to do with her.

If Uncle wanted to create trouble, he’d better go directly to Brother.

She really didn’t know anything.

Seeing her blurt out the matter of Mu Xiaoyao’s fight without any attempt to cover up for him, Nangong Xu looked surprised.

This honest ‘betrayal’ of her companion was surprisingly refreshing.

Since Mu Xiaojiu didn’t seem to mind, after bidding him goodbye, Baili Xia walked off.

Retrieving her backpack from the hall, she saw Ye Hua as she was about to leave.

To her surprise, he was drenched in sweat.

“You…

really went for a run?” She shouldn’t be meddling, but she couldn’t help but be curious.

What on earth was he doing, running late at night?

Ye Hua wiped the sweat off his face before nodding.

“I’m all sweaty; I’ll go shower and change first.

Goodbye, Miss Xiaxia.”

He was the same as always, neither warm nor too cold.

Baili Xia had gotten used to it.

Everyone around Uncle, each one of them was more aloof than the other.

Really, once you get used to it, it’s fine.

She turned around and left.

In the side hall, Mu Xiaojiu just stared at her retreating figure.

Nangong Xu, however, looked at him, his eyes a mix of complexity.
