Baili Xia shook her head and got up from the bed.

It was still early, just six in the morning.

But since she had already slept once last night, she didn’t feel tired.

Baili Xia went to the bathroom to freshen up and went directly to the next room to find Wu Ming.

Although she could ask Brother or Uncle when she returned to Jin City, here, perhaps she could first inquire something from Wu Ming.

She knocked on Wu Ming’s door a few times, but there was no response.

She twisted the doorknob, but the door didn’t budge.

It seemed Wu Ming was not in the room.

So early in the morning, where did he go?

Or did he not come back last night at all?

Unable to find Wu Ming, Baili Xia had nothing else to do, so she went downstairs for breakfast.

At this time, the owner of Bi Luo Pavilion hadn’t come down yet; the servants were still preparing breakfast.

Seeing Baili Xia, they hurriedly bowed respectfully.

“Miss Xiaxia, you’re up so early today.”

Baili Xia smiled lightly and said nothing.

“Miss Xiaxia, please have a seat; we’ll bring breakfast to you shortly.”

“Okay, thank you,” she replied and sat down at the dining table.

From this direction, she could just see the living room.

The servant brought breakfast, and as Baili Xia was eating, someone suddenly flashed past the living room.

Though he walked quickly, Baili Xia still saw clearly that it was Wu Ming.

After finishing her breakfast, as Baili Xia was leaving the side hall, Wu Ming came down from upstairs.

Seeing Baili Xia, he was obviously surprised: “You’re up so early today?”

“Mm, just came back?” Baili Xia responded with a nod, asking.

Wu Ming looked into her eyes without responding.

He had indeed just returned, but he didn’t want to explain.

“Go have breakfast,” seeing he didn’t want to talk, Baili Xia didn’t ask further.

She turned and walked to the living room sofa, sat down, and looked at the courtyard scenery.

Wu Ming’s eyes revealed a hint of complexity as he watched her.

Last night he had gotten the item from Bei Fengjin and sent it out immediately; it was the fastest he could do, yet he was still caught by the girl.

“Looking for me about something?” He walked towards Baili Xia.

Baili Xia glanced at him, then her gaze returned to the yard.

“Nothing now.”

Since there were things he didn’t want her to know, asking would probably get no response anyway.

Wu Ming’s eyes darkened slightly. What was wrong with this girl?

He sat opposite Baili Xia and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Baili Xia finally turned her head, her gaze meeting his, as if trying to see through his heart.

“Is Sir Mu very familiar with me?”

Wu Ming’s gaze visibly trembled for a moment, then quickly calmed down.

He straightened his tall frame, glanced outside, then looked Baili Xia in the eye again, speaking plainly.

“How would I know about such matters between you two?”

Baili Xia didn’t believe it; his slight change of expression had already escaped her notice.

But since he wouldn’t speak, she was helpless.

“Then that’s all, go have breakfast; I need to go out later.”

“Where to?”

“To see Brother You’s mother, Mrs. Tang.”

After she finished speaking, she added, “I’ll go by myself.”

Suddenly, Baili Xia felt there was a widening distance between her and Wu Ming, creating many barriers that pulled their relationship apart.

Perhaps everything was just her overthinking, but with so much happening, if she could stay completely calm, maybe she’d really have nerves of steel.

She’s not someone who’s overly cautious, but there are many things that she can’t help but think about.

Why is it that everyone seems so kind to her, yet everyone seems to be hiding so many things from her?
