Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1958
Dongfang Jin didn’t need to guess to know who it was. He turned his head and cast a faint glance at Mu Xiaojiu.
“What, old friends meeting up and can’t even have a conversation?”
“It was just a chance acquaintance, how can that count as old friends?”
Mu Xiaojiu remained unyielding.
Despite having smoothed things over after their last drunken encounter, and getting everything out in the open, they still couldn’t resist sparring a bit when meeting face to face.
Perhaps, after all these years, it’s become a habit.
But Baili Xia had completely forgotten about such scenes, and now seeing Uncle and Jin bickering, it suddenly felt so familiar.
She knew they weren’t really arguing, but just joking around.
She couldn’t remember when these two met or what their previous relationship was.
But she just felt that this scene was so familiar, so familiar.
Mu Xiaojiu sat down beside Baili Xia and looked at Dongfang Jin with a calm gaze.
“We’ll talk later, the Mu family is having a meeting now.”
That was such a dignified way to dismiss someone, even Baili Xia blushed.
Dongfang Jin didn’t get angry at all, simply smiled faintly.
“As long as you can live happily, there’s no need to think too much.”
After saying that, he turned and walked away.
These words were inexplicable, leaving Baili Xia somewhat puzzled.
Could it be that he knew she wasn’t living happily?
However, there was no time for her to think too much now.
“Uncle, aren’t you busy? Why did you come over?”
Baili Xia looked at Mu Xiaojiu and asked.
“No worries, what they’re talking about has nothing to do with me. With Brother there, it’s enough.” He responded casually, appearing indifferent.
Baili Xia glanced over at the other table. They were still in discussion with no intention of ending it.
But Uncle was sitting here so assured, perhaps with things left to Brother and the Brother, he didn’t need to worry anymore.
Seeing Mu Xiaojiu come over to this table, Ning Anran also approached.
“Uncle.” She called gently.
“Mm.” Mu Xiaojiu replied lightly, glanced at her, and his gaze returned to Baili Xia.
“That Dongfang Jin, have less contact with him.”
Baili Xia was baffled. Why did the topic turn to Jin again?
Ning Anran was so furious at the side she almost gritted her teeth, but for the sake of her image, she had to maintain a graceful demeanor.
She found a seat, sat down, and listened to the others with a smile.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come. This year’s gathering is now starting,” the emcee announced as he returned to the stage.
With the sound of a few salutes, colorful ribbons fell from the sky.
On stage, the lights sparkled brilliantly.
At the same time, various dishes were presented and distributed to each table.
The guests enjoyed the delicious food while watching the exciting performances.
After a performance feast ended, the emcee once again took the stage.
“Now it’s time for the auction segment, which is the highlight of tonight’s banquet. Please use your paddles to bid.”
“Next, let’s invite our assistant to bring out the first auction item.”
A pretty assistant, holding an item, walked to the center of the stage.
The item wasn’t large and was covered with a layer of red silk cloth.
“This first item is a bronze artifact from China’s ancient Warring States Period, with extremely high collectible value.”
The emcee removed the silk cloth, revealing the true appearance of the auction item.
This bronze mirror, from the Warring States Period, honestly wasn’t crafted very well.
It’s only because of its antiquity that it holds collectible value.
“The starting price is one million five hundred thousand, bid in increments of one hundred thousand.”
