Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1991
Walking along the main road of the Mu family, just strolling aimlessly.
Baili Xia remained silent all along.
Mu Ziying talked off and on, sometimes sharing anecdotes from the past, sometimes telling jokes, but Baili Xia just couldn’t lift her spirits.
Just when she was about to give up, Baili Xia suddenly spoke.
“Ziying, do you remember when I first came to the Mu family?”
Finally hearing her speak voluntarily, Mu Ziying felt a sense of pride swelling within herself.
It seemed that ultimately, her knack for conversation paid off.
“Of course I remember, at that time Ziqing and I really couldn’t stand you.”
“Never thought we’d end up being such good friends now.”
Baili Xia nodded her head: “Yeah, meeting all of you in the Mu family made me really happy.”
“Everyone in the Mu family has been so good to me, they’ve all accepted me.”
“Sir Mu has been really kind to me too; acknowledging me as his granddaughter has always moved me.”
Mu Ziying, caught up in the conversation, didn’t realize Baili Xia had mentioned Lord Mu.
“Yeah, he treats you even better than he treats us; Ziqing and I were almost driven crazy.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she realized it and got scared instantly.
Xiaxia mentioned Lord Mu, although Uncle and Brother had repeatedly warned against mentioning him in front of Xiaxia.
Could it be that Xiaxia remembered things from before?
But from her expression, it didn’t seem like it.
If she truly remembered, she shouldn’t act this way.
After a moment of thought, Mu Ziying changed her tone: “Oh well, the past… it’s so long ago, I honestly can’t remember clearly.”
“Anyway, we’re good friends now, and that’s enough.”
Baili Xia nodded deeply, Mu Ziying’s behavior was too obvious, clearly indicating she was hiding something from her too.
She had just blurted out that Sir Mu treated Baili Xia well without thinking, it wasn’t a lie.
Baili Xia decided to take a risk.
“At that time Grandpa treated me well, but unfortunately later I found out that Ning Anran was his granddaughter.”
Mu Ziying felt a jolt inside, completely unsure how to respond.
Baili Xia was speaking the truth, yet when she said it, her face showed no expression.
Had she really remembered, or did she hear it from somewhere?
Later it was proven she was actually Baili Yang’s granddaughter; wasn’t she aware?
Of course, the limited information Baili Xia knew was what Guisu had told her before.
Beyond that, she really didn’t know.
Mu Ziying’s face flushed, hesitating on what to say, when suddenly a figure appeared in the distance, giving her a glimmer of hope.
“Brother.” She immediately shouted.
With Brother here, she wouldn’t have to continue entangling with Baili Xia.
Mu Ziying instinctively wiped her forehead. In the early spring weather, she had actually broken out into a cold sweat.
Mu Xiaoyao strode over, noticing Mu Ziying’s panic, his brow slightly furrowed.
He asked calmly, “What are you talking about?”
Mu Ziying didn’t dare mention what had just happened; if Mu Xiaoyao knew she accidentally mentioned Lord Mu, he’d surely kill her with a cold gaze!
While she hesitated over how to answer, Baili Xia chimed in.
“Oh, nothing, just some secrets between us girls. You want to hear?”
Mu Xiaoyao gave her a fleeting glance. Such topics held no interest for him.
However, the panic in Mu Ziying’s eyes, the look as if she had seen a savior, certainly wasn’t because of that.
