Baili Xia’s body drew a perfect arc in the air, her right hand landing precisely on a tree branch.

With a gentle pull, she swung herself onto the tree.

She crouched on the sturdy trunk, reaching out to take the shiny object into her hand.

In the moonlight, Baili Xia examined it carefully and finally saw what it was.

A silver bracelet, very familiar to Baili Xia, having seen it on Xiaoxiao before.

This was a weapon Xiaoxiao had developed for herself, not just a bracelet, but something that could be used for self-defense in critical moments.

Seeing this bracelet here, Baili Xia became even more certain that what happened to Xiaoxiao was definitely not an accident.

Something must have occurred for her to take off the bracelet in a bid to save herself.

But, whether it was because there was too little time or for some other reason.

The switch inside the bracelet hadn’t even been touched.

Baili Xia clenched her palm, her thin lips pressed tightly together.

In this household, Xiaoxiao wouldn’t have had any real enemies.

Even Ning Anran, that woman with a thief’s heart but not the courage, although unfriendly towards Xiaoxiao, wouldn’t harm her for no reason.

If Xiaoxiao was harmed by someone, the only possibility was that she saw or heard something she shouldn’t have.

On that day, so many people were in the back hills, who was it?

Ning Anran? Mu Xuri? Or someone from the Mu family?

Poor Xiaoxiao, what relation did she have with the Mu family? None at all!

Yet she ended up harmed like this!

Baili Xia put the bracelet into her pocket, looked around, but found no new clues.

She grabbed a branch, ready to climb back up onto the rock wall.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she exerted force underfoot, the branch snapped.

Baili Xia didn’t have time to react, her body plummeting downwards.

A gasp escaped her throat as her hand flailed, managing to latch onto a thin branch.

It slightly cushioned her fall, but she still crashed down.

Falling from a height of over ten meters, Baili Xia knew she would be severely injured.

The bracelet was supposed to be sent back to Xiaoxiao for its third modification, but now Xiaoxiao was in trouble and the bracelet was not with her.

No weapon for self-rescue left…

Unable to slow her descent, she could only attempt to adjust her posture to minimize the damage.

Then, she firmly closed her eyes, bracing for the moment she’d hit the ground.

Sliding through the air took only a few seconds, yet it felt endlessly prolonged.

If only this place were a bit higher, that would be better.

Perhaps she would never wake up again, never have to face any of this.

Just as Baili Xia was about to hit the ground, a shadow suddenly leaped over from beside her.

The shadow lunged at Baili Xia, wrapping her in its arms.

They rolled with the momentum on the ground, alleviating the force of the fall, finally coming to rest on the grass.

The expected pain was absent; the sudden impact from the side took Baili Xia by surprise.

The object beneath her was firm, yet warm… like being atop a person, she clearly felt it was not the ground.

Baili Xia slowly opened her eyes, looking down, and saw a face she couldn’t be more familiar with.

Seeing it was Wu Ming, a flash of astonishment flickered in Baili Xia’s eyes.

She didn’t expect that despite their previous argument, he had still come.

She stared blankly at Wu Ming, as if still caught in the panic from a moment ago.
