The two beds were adjacent, and Baili Xia lay on her side, quietly watching that resolute profile.

That desolate face, she didn’t know how long it had been since she had looked at it seriously.

Ever since Grandpa’s incident, every time she faced him, it was either hatred, indifference, or deliberate estrangement.

Had this man really been removed from the depths of her heart?

Could she truly and rightfully be with Brother?

She didn’t know, she really didn’t know.

She wanted revenge, but the target was only Mu Xuri; she didn’t want to hurt Uncle, nor anyone else unrelated,

but regardless of whether the revenge succeeded or not, she and he were destined never to be together.

With Grandpa’s matter, even if he had been kept in the dark, not the mastermind, he was still an accomplice.

She could forgive him for being blinded by hatred, but forgiveness didn’t mean she could completely forget.

Even if they were together, what meaning would it have?

There would always be a shadow in her heart, a thorn, so even if they were together later, they couldn’t be completely open with each other.

Being together would only make both of them suffer for a lifetime.

Baili Xia held Mu Xiaojiu’s hand in hers, as if that would keep him from leaving.

She didn’t want to think about anything now, nor did she want to consider right or wrong.

Right now, she just wanted him to wake up, to get better…

Her eyelids grew heavier, sleepiness crept in, and Baili Xia couldn’t hold on for much longer before finally falling into a deep sleep.

In her dream, Uncle had already recovered.

A smile appeared on his face as he looked at Baili Xia, his eyes full of tenderness.

“Uncle.”

Baili Xia called out, rushing over to throw herself into his embrace.

“Uncle, don’t leave me, don’t go.”

Mu Xiaojiu held her tightly in his arms, gently patting her back, unwilling to let go for even a moment.

This sleep was very comfortable.

She seemed to know it was a dream, yet she was willing to immerse herself in it, reluctant to wake up.

In the dream, there was no need for revenge; in the dream, Uncle could always be by her side…

It seemed someone was pushing her, and Baili Xia mumbled something, waving her arms to try to shoo the person away.

Mu Xiaojiu lowered his eyes to look at her charming eyelids, her fair cheeks appearing slightly pale because of the blood loss.

If it were possible, he wouldn’t want to wake her.

He just wanted to quietly watch this girl, lying beside him.

How long had it been since it was like this?

“Girl, still not waking up?” He reached out again, gently pushing Baili Xia’s arm.

Baili Xia’s drowsy eyes opened a slit, peering through the light.

“Ah, Uncle!” she exclaimed, suddenly sitting up abruptly.

“Uncle, are you better?”

She didn’t notice that her hand was still tightly holding Mu Xiaojiu’s large hand.

Mu Xiaojiu nodded, a complex look flashing in his eyes.

This girl, she was truly worried about him.

If so, why was she forcing herself to live so painfully?

“Don’t get too excited, he’s not well yet.”

Beside them, a calm voice sounded, and Baili Xia only then realized there were others in the room.

“Master, how is he really?” she asked Nangong Xu.

Just now, Uncle clearly nodded, so why did Master say he’s not well?

Nangong Xu didn’t care about the murderous look in Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes; as a healer, not even Mr. Xiaojiu could make him yield.

“It’s just that your blood has taken effect, able to detoxify part of the poison.”

“However, he’s still very weak and can’t move until the poison is completely cleared.”
