Baili Xia, having had blood drawn, was feeling a bit sleepy herself.

Upon hearing Uncle say, “Stay with me for a while,” she genuinely wished she could immediately climb into bed and have a good rest.

However, she still didn’t dare.

“If you don’t sleep, I can’t sleep.” Mr. Xiaojiu truly felt a bit powerless now.

Even exerting a little effort was something to be avoided; of course, he knew that trying to be strong at this time was unwise.

Therefore, forcing this girl to lie down with him seemed, perhaps, not very feasible.

He could only act a bit spoiled.

Even if such a word had never appeared in his life’s dictionary.

Baili Xia hesitated a bit; staying with him was already inappropriate considering she was now posing as Brother’s fiancée.

But this man… those eyes, that attitude, this stubborn temperament.

If she didn’t lie down, even if he was extremely exhausted, he would likely still endure, unwilling to fall asleep.

Look at him now, isn’t he?

Having taken so many sleep-aiding medicines and yet still not asleep.

Perhaps now wasn’t the time to dwell on so much.

The most important concern was Uncle’s health.

Baili Xia dared not indulge in wild thoughts any longer, gently squeezing Mu Xiaojiu’s hand before lying down beside him.

Just as she turned over, with her back to him, unexpectedly, he reached out and embraced her from behind.

“Uncle…” Baili Xia’s body slightly trembled, instinctively wanting to struggle.

Behind her, the man’s indifferent voice sounded, “Shut up and sleep.”

An iron arm encircled her waist, holding her neither too lightly nor too tightly.

Yet aside from embracing her, he took no other actions.

Baili Xia lay there stiffly, not knowing how long, when finally the sound of the man’s even breathing came through.

He had finally fallen asleep.

Holding his wrist, she gently moved in an attempt to remove his arm from around her waist.

Unexpectedly, just as she made a slight movement, the man in deep sleep suddenly tightened his long arm, holding her even closer.

Afraid that exerting too much strength would accelerate the remaining toxins in his body, Baili Xia dared not move an inch further.

From initially stiffening her body to gradually succumbing to sleepiness.

Not knowing how much time had passed, as the little girl’s whole body relaxed and her consciousness blurred, that familiar scent belonging to the man caused her to fall in love.

It turned out, she was still reluctant, still would, in her sleep, seek out that reassuring posture.

Only when awake, she dared not think, dare not touch, dare not indulge…

…

The morning passed in slumber, with noon waking her, coaxing Mu Xiaojiu to have his meal and take his medicine later.

Days when he can’t go out, even work has been prohibited by Nangong Xu; for Mu Xiaojiu, there was still nothing but sleep.

Baili Xia, however, because of sleeping the entire morning, had mostly regained her energy.

Coaxing Mu Xiaojiu to sleep, Baili Xia awakens from a nap, finally having a chance to go out.

Upon going out, she directly headed to Mu Xiaoyao’s doorstep.

Gently knocking a few times on the door, the room inside remained silent; there was no one there.

Baili Xia took out her phone, found his number, and sent him a message.

“Brother, I have something to tell you. When will you be back?”

Standing at the door for a while, she didn’t receive a reply from Mu Xiaoyao.

Perhaps he was busy; Baili Xia stopped waiting, descended the stairs, and headed toward the medical room.

She had arranged with Zimo to visit Xiaoxiao that afternoon, the two of them going together to chat as well.

Uncle currently had Nightwatch guarding him, so she could rest assured stepping away for a while.

By the time Baili Xia got to the medical room, Zimo was already there.

However, there was another person beside her.
