Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2146
Feng Gang felt a warmth in his heart when he heard Baili Xia call him Uncle Feng, and his eyes instantly moistened.
The old man could be at peace now, having such a well-behaved and sensible granddaughter.
“Miss, rest assured, this old body of mine can still hold on. But you, be very careful out there. If those people find out you’re investigating this, they’ll definitely come after you.”
Baili Xia nodded and glanced at her watch; about twenty-five minutes had already passed.
“I must be going.”
She stepped forward again, hugged Feng Gang, and then turned to knock on the visiting room door.
The door opened immediately. Officer Chen had been waiting somewhat anxiously, ready to come find her.
Baili Xia dared not delay and quickly followed him out.
As she walked out of the prison gates, Baili Xia glanced at her phone; the timing was just right.
She exhaled softly and walked toward the black sedan parked by the roadside.
As soon as Baili Xia got into the car, Mu Xiaoyao started the engine and drove away from the area.
“Did you discover anything?”
Baili Xia recounted what she had inquired about to Mu Xiaoyao.
Finally, there was still doubt in her eyes: “According to Uncle Feng, Mu Xuri liked researching poison back in the day.”
“Poison?” Mu Xiaoyao furrowed his thick brows slightly, “I hadn’t noticed that during these days.”
“That’s also what puzzles me. If Mu Xuri really liked researching poison back then, why doesn’t he mention it at all now?”
Most hobbies and interests will last a lifetime, especially those that benefit oneself.
In Baili Xia’s mind, Mu Xuri was never a good person; in fact, he could be said to be a very bad person.
A bad person who knows how to make poison, why wouldn’t he use such a good weapon?
Could it be that something major happened back then that made him never dare touch poison again?
“Besides, my grandfather wouldn’t use poison to harm people. I’m willing to trust Uncle Feng’s words.”
Mu Xiaoyao nodded: “I’m willing to trust them too.”
After all, grandfather had been with them for so many years, ever since he was born.
He didn’t have the immense hatred like Uncle had, nor had he been indoctrinated with thoughts of revenge since childhood.
It wasn’t until the critical day that he found out; for over twenty years, he had always considered Baili Yang his grandfather.
Although Baili Yang’s temper may not be the best, at least he conducted himself honorably.
From childhood, his teachings to them never involved any sinister tactics.
When wronged, hit back, but don’t use devious tricks.
This was Baili Yang’s upbringing for them, and it had been consistent over the years.
In contrast, this new third uncle, no matter how much Mu Xiaoyao admitted that he couldn’t judge people well, didn’t look like a good person by any measure.
If Mu Xuri didn’t have the surname Mu, he wouldn’t even care to look at him.
“I’ll go back and talk to Uncle about this, get his opinion,” said Mu Xiaoyao.
Baili Xia nodded, knowing that Uncle was always true to his word.
Since he’s willing to give her the chance to investigate, it means he’s already promised to objectively analyze everything from now on.
No matter who it involves, if objectivity is promised, it will be objective.
“Brother,” Baili Xia glanced at him, then looked ahead.
After hesitating, she voiced her doubts: “Does our Mu family really have someone from that organization?”
“It’s still uncertain right now,” he wouldn’t make any reckless statements about something Uncle was unsure of, “just be cautious in everything.”
