Wen Yu seemed to really take things lightly, looking at Tian with a very gentle gaze.

“You can see it too, now he’s taken a liking to Ning Anran. If you’re willing, with your looks, you could easily be his woman too.”

A clear expression of disgust appeared on Tian’s face but vanished immediately.

“Madam, these things shouldn’t be said lightly.”

“I really just went to the study because the sir asked me to do something. As for Miss An Ran, I don’t know, I just want to do my job well.”

The changes on Tian’s face had long been noticed by Wen Yu, after all, she was experienced and could see the relationship between the two at a glance.

Tian disliked Mu Xuri, or rather, she didn’t care about Mu Xuri at all.

If she was truly just working, with her demeanor, she definitely wouldn’t stay here to work for someone she didn’t like.

The only explanation was that Tian’s status was not lower than Mu Xuri’s.

Having figured that out, she no longer asked more questions.

“Don’t be angry, I was just making a casual remark. I’ve been feeling agitated lately, joking a bit helps me relax.”

Tian said nothing more; anyway, she didn’t have much time left, so let her say whatever she wanted.

Wen Yu walked a bit more with Tian, and lacking the interest to continue strolling, she returned to the main house.

In the hall, only a few servants were busy with chores.

Wen Yu didn’t stop, she went straight upstairs and returned to her room.

She took out her phone again and dialed that familiar number.

This time, after a few rings, the call was finally answered.

“Hello? Jiu…”

A cold voice came from the other end: “What is it?”

“I made a discovery…”

Then, Wen Yu recounted her recent conversation with Tian to Mu Xiaojiu.

After listening to everything, the other end of the line fell silent.

“Jiu, what do you think I should do next?”

Mu Xiaojiu seemed to be contemplating something, and after a while, he said plainly, “I’ll have someone keep an eye on this girl. However, you mustn’t make any more moves.”

“But, I’m afraid, in here, I’m afraid I won’t survive.”

“There are people in the main house who work for me, they will watch over you. As long as you don’t act rashly and arouse Mu Xuri’s suspicions, you’ll be safe.”

“Can they really protect me? Why haven’t I noticed them?”

Although Wen Yu knew that perhaps Mu Xiaojiu’s people were hidden among the servants, she wasn’t entirely confident in their ability to protect her.

Mu Xiaojiu seemed to lose patience: “I have other matters to attend to; in any case, you need to be careful yourself.”

With that, he hung up the phone.

The room fell silent once more, a terrifying aura spreading.

Staring at the phone’s darkened screen, Wen Yu inexplicably felt a wave of anxiety.

She didn’t know why, despite it being daytime, everything felt shrouded in gray.

During the warming season of March, even at noon, the room felt cold.

She… had already stopped following his words and secretly investigated Mu Xuri, not daring to mention a word about it to Mu Xiaojiu.

He had reminded her multiple times not to act on her own; if he found out she had already been to Mu Xuri’s study…

Wen Yu clenched her palms, cold sweat slipping down from the corner of her forehead…

…

By evening, Wen Yu’s door was knocked on once more.

“Madam, sir invites you downstairs for dinner.”

Tian stood at the door, her face smiling, a pleasant sight.

But how could Wen Yu still trust her? She was definitely not as sweet as she appeared!

A servant who could sit down and talk with Mu Xuri couldn’t be simple at all.

Could starting with Tian make things smoother?
