“Forget it, let’s leave it at that. Arguing over such trivial matters at the funeral doesn’t make any sense.”

Mu Xuri waved his hand, not wanting to stir up further trouble.

“Those who should pay respects, hurry up and do so. If there’s nothing else, head back.”

Mu Xuri was finding himself an exit; it seemed like the matter should be pretty much resolved here.

But by saying this, others could probably guess that Ning Anran did indeed say things that wronged Baili Xia.

“Wait…” a clear voice called out.

Everyone looked at Baili Xia; she didn’t seem too pleased with this outcome.

Mu Xuri gave her a cold glance: “What more do you want?”

“What more do I want? I’ve been wronged, can we simply let it go like this?”

Baili Xia’s gaze fell on Ning Anran, since she still intended to cause trouble, it was time to give her a thorough lesson.

“Uncle, I didn’t…” Ning Anran panicked, wanting to explain immediately.

Mu Xuri furrowed his brows, raising his hand to stop her.

Now, he had nothing to fear.

Wen Yu’s body had already turned to ashes, and even if others were suspicious, they couldn’t find anything.

“She just spoke thoughtlessly in a fit of anger during an argument, there’s no need to delve into it further.”

“An Ran, apologize to Xiaxia.”

These words basically admitted that Ning Anran had said those things.

Ning Anran’s face was flushed with shame, she didn’t expect Mu Xuri would end up selling her out.

With this, who would believe anything she said?

Mr. Xiaojiu would also think of her as a spiteful little woman.

She didn’t want to apologize, but Mu Xuri’s gaze fixed steadily on her, leaving her no escape.

She had no choice but to softly say, “I’m sorry.”

“What, I can’t hear you.”

“I’m sorry,” Ning Anran’s voice grew louder.

“Finally admitting it now?”

Baili Xia sneered, but in Ning Anran’s eyes, her heart inexplicably felt cold.

She sensed a dangerous aura approaching step by step.

“Accusing me like this, can a simple ‘sorry’ put an end to it?”

“What more do you want?” Ning Anran retorted.

She firmly believed that, at least beside Mu Xuri, Baili Xia wouldn’t dare do anything to her.

Yet she saw Baili Xia actually walking towards her.

“What do you want to do?” she panicked, her body instinctively hiding behind Mu Xuri.

But Baili Xia wouldn’t let her escape, in a flash, she was already beside Ning Anran.

Her arm reached out, grabbing Ning Anran’s clothes.

A gentle tug pulled Ning Anran from behind Mu Xuri to the center of the hall.

“Don’t touch me, what do you want to do?” Ning Anran shouted.

“For falsely accusing me so viciously, of course I have to make you remember it for good.”

As soon as the words fell, Baili Xia’s right hand swiftly raised.

With a crisp and loud slap, the sound etched into everyone’s hearts.

“Ah…” Ning Anran let out a piercing scream.

Baili Xia actually dared to hit her in front of Mu Xuri and so many people!

“It hurts, it really hurts, Uncle…”

She raised her hand to cover her right cheek, the fiery sensation was even more severe than the one on her left from yesterday.

“Stop.” Mu Xuri shouted angrily.

But Baili Xia completely ignored him, her hand already raised again.

Slap, slap, slap, slap — four consecutive strikes, alternating left and right.

Ning Anran was completely dazed from the beating, seeing stars in her eyes, as if both her cheeks no longer belonged to her.

Baili Xia looked at the stupefied Ning Anran, finally feeling the anger in her heart dissipate.

She had endured her hatred for too long; being wronged meant nothing to her, she didn’t care.

But for what Ning Anran had done to her grandfather, these few slaps were just an advance payment on the interest!
