Originally, Baili Xia had been thinking that once she arrived at the Bei Family, she should first go and acknowledge Bei Fengjin.

But when she really got here, she calmed down.

Only then did she remember the stakes of this matter; she absolutely had to tread carefully and must not let anyone else find out.

Then she had to think about how to help Brother You, help him recover his body so he could represent the Bei Family in the election.

And there was her mother’s death—what on earth had really happened, and from which angle should she start investigating.

And then, and then…

The more she thought, the more there was.

Her heavy eyelids finally could no longer stay open, and Baili Xia completely drifted off to sleep.

…

In the afternoon, Baili Xia woke up to a bout of knocking at the door.

Baili Xia stretched lazily, crawled up from the bed, and in a daze went to open the door.

Outside the door stood a tall figure.

Silent, cold, with a pair of ink-dark eyes as deep as an abyss.

Baili Xia’s mind snapped a bit clearer, and she called softly, “Guisu…”

Guisu gave a low “mm,” his gaze fixed tightly on her face.

That intent stare made Baili Xia feel a little embarrassed.

Suddenly, he took two steps forward.

Baili Xia naturally sidestepped to the side to let Guisu come in.

Once inside, Guisu took long strides toward the sofa.

The way he looked, it was plainly as casual as if he were walking into his own room.

The corners of Baili Xia’s lips tugged slightly; seeing Guisu so at ease actually made her feel a bit more relieved inside.

At last, he wasn’t that cold, unapproachable version of himself anymore.

Baili Xia sat down opposite Guisu and reached out to pour two cups of tea.

Guisu’s ink-dark eyes carefully followed her movements the whole time.

He just stayed silent.

Baili Xia looked at him; his black training outfit was still covered with a fair bit of dust.

Obviously, he had just come back from training outside.

She smiled and said, “What’s wrong? You’re not here just to sit in silence, are you?”

Guisu’s dark eyes lifted, his gaze falling on her face as a low voice came out.

“Is your injury completely healed?”

Baili Xia could hear it—there was clearly a note of displeasure in that voice.

She had come to see him; wasn’t he supposed to be happy about that? Why was he acting like this now?

“It’s healed, what about it?”

“If it’s not, then don’t run around everywhere. It’s not like they can’t do without you here for a while.”

Guisu’s tone was clearly a bit better.

Baili Xia gave a wry smile, finally understanding what was on Guisu’s mind.

She said, “I have the medicine Brother You gave me—so long as I’m not dead, I recover pretty fast.”

No wonder: after suffering such serious injuries, she could recover so quickly; it would indeed strike people as strange.

It was all thanks to those miraculous medicines Bei Tianyou had sent; otherwise she should still be lying in bed right now.

Guisu’s expression visibly improved a lot; he picked up the teacup and took a light sip.

Then he suddenly asked, “How long are you planning to stay this time?”

“A month, maybe two. I still have to go back to take exams.”

“Mm.” Guisu nodded. Being able to stay a month or two had already greatly exceeded his expectations.

“I know all about your grandfather’s matter. What are you planning to do from now on?”

The news of Baili Yang being cleared had long since flooded all the media.

Even far away in Bei Miao, they had all seen it.

What he worried about most was how this girl would handle her relationship with the Mu family in the future.

Although things had been reconciled with the Mu family, that reconciliation was ultimately only on the surface.

Could this girl still get along well with the people of the Mu family in the future?

Guisu didn’t understand social niceties; he only knew that if it were him, he would definitely never want any more ties with the Mu family.

But then, what about Mu Xiaojiu and her…?
