Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2364
Guisu raised his thick, sword-like eyebrows, a slight tug at the corner of his lips.
“Are you afraid?”
He had seen it clearly, Wu Ming was afraid of others discovering his true identity.
Of course, it wasn’t the others he feared, but that girl.
Is he concealing his identity like this because he wants to compensate for his past shortcomings towards her?
Who would have thought that the always composed Mr. Xiaojiu, whose face remains unchanged even with a mountain collapsing in front of him, would actually have moments of unease and fear.
His feelings for that girl are surprisingly deep and cautious!
Wu Ming let out a cold hum, bothered to respond.
“I’ve said it before, my affairs don’t need anyone else to worry about.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Guisu suddenly said coldly, “But, not including that girl’s affairs.”
“I will guard her. If you intend to hurt her again, I don’t mind challenging you to a life-and-death duel.”
Guisu knew Mu Xiaojiu wouldn’t harm that girl; what he feared was hurting her heart once more.
Given that he claimed no relationship, why couldn’t he let go completely?
The aura around Wu Ming grew colder, staring at Guisu, not uttering a word.
That gaze seemed capable of killing someone.
Guisu wasn’t afraid in the slightest; regarding that girl’s affairs, he wouldn’t retreat an inch.
Even if the opponent was Mu Xiaojiu, it wouldn’t matter.
Time seemed to stand still, the air frozen in place.
After a long while, a sparse conversation was heard from the front yard.
Wu Ming took a deep, heavy breath, exhaling away the entangled feelings in his heart.
Regarding this guy, he couldn’t really engage in a fight.
Guisu was just too loyal to that girl; he only wanted to protect her, with no malice intended.
The chill on him dissipated, and when Wu Ming looked at Guisu, his gaze returned to its usual indifference.
“I won’t harm her. I’m here only to help her find the truth about certain matters.”
“What matters?”
Clearly, Guisu didn’t intend to let him off easily.
Wu Ming furrowed his brow, this guy was indeed too cautious.
He whispered, “About her ancestry, that’s all I can say.”
Guisu’s dark eyes gazed into Wu Ming’s, clear under those deep star-like eyes.
Wu Ming didn’t conceal; this time he was truly here for that girl’s ancestry.
Isn’t she Miss Lu?
Could she be related to the Bei Family?
With many doubts, Guisu opened his mouth, wanting to ask more questions.
Wu Ming spoke first, “I won’t tell you about this, and don’t ask her about it, only adding to her troubles.”
Guisu was momentarily at a loss, his eyes lowered.
After some thought, he looked up at Wu Ming, saying mildly, “If needed, come find me.”
Wu Ming gave him a slight nod.
Working with the Bei Family, if he had to find someone trustworthy, the first person that came to mind was Guisu.
Between the two, they were neither enemies nor friends, yet mutual admiration existed.
The sounds from the front yard grew increasingly miscellaneous, familiar voices echoed occasionally.
The two exchanged a glance, refrained from speaking further, and together stepped towards the front yard.
In the front yard, Baili Xia was talking to a maid about something.
Seeing Wu Ming and Guisu coming over from the backyard, surprise flashed in her eyes.
She instructed the maid on a few things, letting her go to work.
Then, she turned back, looking at Wu Ming and Guisu, asking, “Why are you two together?”
Wu Ming glanced at Guisu, replied indifferently, “Someone was itching for a beating, I repaired him a bit.”
Guisu merely grunted, ignoring him.
Although in the battle with Wu Ming, he was slightly at a disadvantage, he showed no trace of fear.
Only, in front of Baili Xia, he didn’t mind making such jokes.
