Wu Ming and Baili Xia arrived at Jin Ye Pavilion, once again climbing over the wall to get in.

They came to the backyard and knocked on the door of the only room with lights on.

Not long after, the door was opened.

Bei Fengjin was already accustomed to the way they came over.

No need to guess, he knew it was them.

Upon seeing Baili Xia, a hint of gentleness appeared in his eyes that wasn’t there on regular days.

In a soft voice, Baili Xia called out, “Dad…”

Bei Fengjin nodded, allowing the two to enter.

Sitting in the room, he looked at Baili Xia and Wu Ming, asking, “Did you go to Youyang Pavilion?”

Yesterday, Baili Xia mentioned going to Youyang Pavilion to investigate Bei Qingyou’s affairs. Coming today, they probably had already been there.

Baili Xia nodded, the disappointment on her face was evident.

“Wanted to get in but couldn’t, no idea why Youyang Pavilion has increased surveillance so much.”

Bei Fengjin raised an eyebrow and spoke, “It’s all because of what happened last time.”

“Youyang Pavilion is originally a forbidden area, and the Old Madam doesn’t want it to be used by others, causing trouble again.”

After the incident involving Nangong Yun and Bei Zicheng at Youyang Pavilion, the Old Madam immediately rearranged the monitoring setup.

Now, it’s almost impossible to find a dead angle in Youyang Pavilion.

Bei Fengjin had been there many times; although he saw those surveillance cameras, he didn’t care.

He had already compromised greatly; now, he only goes there to pay respects to You’er, and the Old Madam doesn’t say much about it.

However, with all these cameras, it’s brought Xiaxia and Wu Ming quite a bit of trouble.

He contemplated for a moment and said plainly, “If you want to investigate something, I can go in.”

Baili Xia’s eyes lit up, but quickly dimmed again.

Bei Fengjin could go in, but if his movements were discovered by the Old Madam…

The Old Madam would certainly suspect his motives, and then it would be difficult to investigate further.

She spoke, “Better not. I’ll find someone to help, see if we can disable the surveillance.”

Baili Xia believes that with Brother’s skills, he will surely find a way to hack the surveillance.

Actually, coming to Jin Ye Pavilion at night wasn’t for anything particularly important.

She just wanted to see her father.

Suddenly remembering what Brother You mentioned this afternoon, she spoke again, “By the way, Brother You said that in a few days, it’s the Old Madam’s seventieth birthday banquet.”

“Will you be attending?”

Without thinking, Bei Fengjin replied lightly, “No.”

His feelings toward the Old Madam are complex.

He can be grateful for the years of care but cannot forgive her for breaking him and You’er apart.

Even living in the Bei Family, since residing in Jin Ye Pavilion, he has hardly seen the Old Madam in all these years.

It’s almost been twenty years.

Wu Ming quietly sat aside, listening to their conversation.

He had already anticipated Bei Fengjin’s attitude.

If it were him, he’d also resist the same way.

Baili Xia looked at Bei Fengjin, discerning his resoluteness.

She could understand such feelings; since knowing Bei Fengjin was her biological father, her heart had also been complex at times.

Baili Xia had long accepted that the Old Master was her grandfather, but as for the Old Madam, she couldn’t help but feel a bit concerned since she was the one who tore her parents apart.

But, the results of all this shouldn’t be borne by Father alone.

Determination rose in her eyes, and she softly said, “What have you been staying in Jin Ye Pavilion for all these years?”

“What wrong did you commit back then? You just fell in love with someone.”
