Chapter 2423

Ling Chuxiang just gave a faint smile, and went straight to the sofa opposite the Old Madam to sit down.

The unwelcoming tone in the Old Madam’s words wasn’t hard to detect, but he didn’t mind.

He had his own purpose for coming this time.

Bei Shengri felt a slight bit of awkwardness and went to sit beside the Old Madam.

“Mom, just listen to what you’re saying. Whatever is said about the Ling Family, they are in-laws of the Bei Family, and for such an important occasion as your seventieth birthday, they must come.”

Ling Lin followed and sat down next to him, agreeing, “Yes, mom. This time, brother has come especially to wish you a happy birthday.”

The Old Madam gave a faint smile, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

That Ling Chuxiang came specifically to wish her a happy birthday, she could never really believe.

This man is notoriously meticulous and ruthless in the business world.

Every move he makes has its purpose, and he never wastes time.

Only now did Bei Xier understand who this person really was.

She wasn’t sure about the relationship between Lingfeng Group and Miao Domain Group, but from the Old Madam’s attitude, it was clear she was quite annoyed with Ling Chuxiang.

She walked behind the Old Madam and stood there quietly listening.

Ling Chuxiang smiled, then spoke again, “This time, will the people from the Nan Family… come?”

The Old Madam raised an eyebrow, with a hint of displeasure in her eyes.

What did it matter to Ling Chuxiang whether the Nan Family would come or not?

Not to mention that it’s not something Ling Chuxiang should meddle in, just the marriage between Bei Shengri and Ling Lin years ago already made the Old Madam have a firm opinion of the Ling Family.

This matter, she couldn’t be bothered to answer.

The atmosphere in the hall suddenly grew awkward.

At this moment, Bei Qingyue and Nangong Yun walked in from outside.

“What breeze has brought Chairman Ling over here?”

The voice arrived before the person.

Ling Chuxiang didn’t mind at all and smiled faintly, saying, “Lady Yue, after all this time, you’re still as lovely as ever.”

Bei Qingyue’s face had no expression whatsoever, not even a hint of coldness could be detected.

Due to the relationship between the two families, somewhat in-laws, she couldn’t vent her feelings.

She just gave a cold snort, then walked over to sit on the sofa.

Seeing the atmosphere so awkward, Bei Shengri hurriedly tried to smooth things over.

“Mom, for such an important event as your seventieth birthday, surely some people from the Nan Family will come?”

The Old Madam’s gaze fell on him, displeased, “What does it matter if the Nan Family comes or not?”

“Mom, just listen to what you’re saying, of course whether the Nan Family comes or not matters to our Bei Family.”

Bei Shengri chuckled and changed the subject.

“The new Clan Leader election is about to start, won’t they come see who our family will send to run?”

Only then did the Old Madam understand what Ling Chuxiang’s real purpose in coming was.

Her gaze turned to Bei Zicheng, this grandson was probably their real intention.

Exchanging a glance with Bei Qingyue, seeing her calm expression, she probably had guessed their intention as well.

Bei Qingyue calmed her expression and said indifferently, “Who will run will naturally be known when the time comes. Even if they come now, it’s of no use.”

The Nan Family, she had already sent an invitation.

But since the two families are the main competitors for the Clan Leader, they don’t usually have much interaction.

Up until now, they haven’t given any response about whether they would send someone to attend the birthday banquet.

But even if they do come, it doesn’t matter.

As the premier family of Bei Miao, it’s impossible for them to fret over such a small matter.

Bei Shengri chuckled, “Qingyue, you can’t say it that way.”

“After all, the time for the Clan Leader election is getting closer, it’s necessary to be prepared in advance, how about…”
