Without further thought, the two of them swiftly rushed into the mountains.

Several cars, at least twenty or thirty men in black; how could she and Wu Ming handle it?

These assassins in black are all highly trained, completely different from typical assassins.

Their skills, even just one or two, would be difficult for Baili Xia to deal with.

Wu Ming might be able to escape on his own, but she could hardly get away.

Behind them, the sound of motor vehicles vanished.

Although they didn’t look back, they knew those people had found the crashed taxi and the SUV.

They must have stopped and were now searching the mountains.

Damn it, these people arrived faster than Brother You’s men!

Baili Xia dared not delay a second, being pulled by Wu Ming as they frantically ran into the mountains.

This deep mountain area was completely undeveloped.

There were no paths on the surface, only varied vegetation.

Moving through the bushes, Wu Ming, in front, held a knife, hacking through the thorns.

Following behind, Baili Xia miraculously avoided getting scratched.

After running for about half an hour, they saw a cave and finally stopped.

Baili Xia was panting heavily and sat down on the ground as soon as they stopped.

Wu Ming glanced back; they were already far from their previous location, finding them here would take some time.

He knew those people would inevitably find this place, too.

They had left quite a few traces along the way.

“Rest for a while, we’ll leave later.”

Hearing Wu Ming’s voice, Baili Xia was taken aback and looked up at him.

What happened to Wu Ming? His voice had gotten much more hoarse than before.

Large beads of sweat dripped from his forehead.

His scarred face had turned somewhat pale.

“Wu Ming, what’s wrong with you?”

Baili Xia quickly stood up and walked towards him.

Wu Ming glanced at her, shook his head, and in a hoarse voice said, “It’s nothing.”

Baili Xia didn’t believe he was fine. After studying medicine for so long, she could recognize these symptoms.

Her gaze scrutinized him carefully, finally finding an unusual dark patch on his black coat.

Underneath, a drop of blood was dripping from the hem to the ground.

Baili Xia exclaimed, “You’re injured!”

Was this injury from fighting those men in black? At that time, she didn’t notice anything unusual.

However, during the fight, he seemed to be at ease.

Those two assassins in black were no match for him; he had no reason to be injured.

Perhaps, it was when he saved her at the last moment…

How did he manage to endure running all this way?

She walked over, wanting to lift his clothes to check the wound.

Just as her hand reached mid-air, Wu Ming caught it.

“It’s nothing, we’ll talk about it when we get back.”

Wu Ming’s face was already as pale as a sheet.

But his grip on Baili Xia’s hand was still strong.

Yet from his expression, how could he be fine?

Baili Xia insisted, “You’re severely wounded, let me see.”

Wu Ming lowered his eyes to look at her, seeing the anxiety and concern in Baili Xia’s beautiful eyes.

He felt an unbidden warmth in his heart, and his big hand gently let go.

The moment Baili Xia’s hand was freed, she immediately opened the buttons on Wu Ming’s clothing.

When she pulled open the shirt, she was shocked to see how much blood Wu Ming had lost.

His clothes were already heavy, completely soaked.

With every move she made, Baili Xia felt a pang in her heart.

When she saw the black hole in Wu Ming’s waist, her heart sank even further.

He had been shot.
