The leader of the men in black snorted heavily to vent his anger.

He said coldly, “Throw the torches over there, set the fire.”

As soon as the words fell, Baili Xia saw several torches flying through the air, landing right on the dry wood at the cave entrance.

Soon, they ignited.

Baili Xia was very anxious, watching the flames burn brighter and had no way to stop it.

Someone threw some damp leaves onto the fire from afar, which caused thick black smoke to rise above the red flames.

Those people knew Baili Xia was hidden at the cave entrance, but did not come over.

Most of the black smoke floated upward, but some slowly seeped into the cave.

The enclosed cave quickly became turbid, filled with the smell of smoke in the air.

Cough… cough…

Wu Ming was seriously injured and soon started coughing.

But Baili Xia dared not retreat; she had to stand guard there, ready to take out anyone who appeared at the entrance.

Only by making the opponent one person less could they have a glimmer of hope when escaping.

However, no one appeared at the entrance anymore.

The smoke completely filled the entire cave; at this rate, they would be poisoned before they could escape.

Baili Xia was not afraid; her blood could detoxify, but Wu Ming could not hold out much longer.

The situation was urgent; she could not wait any longer.

Baili Xia quickly retreated into the cave and came to Wu Ming’s side.

“Wu Ming, we must go out.”

Wu Ming nodded, looking up at Baili Xia.

Suddenly, a big hand lifted, pulling her into his arms.

“Wu Ming…”

In such an environment, everyone is somewhat touched.

Baili Xia leaned into Wu Ming’s embrace, not blaming him for holding her at this time.

She was careful, afraid of hurting his wound.

Wu Ming’s breathing was somewhat rapid, whether due to the smoke or excitement.

He suddenly said, “Girl, are you afraid of death?”

Baili Xia was slightly startled; she raised her head, looking at Wu Ming.

“I’m not afraid to die with you.”

Wu Ming nodded; just now, Baili Xia’s determined gaze, how could he not notice?

She had once blocked a bullet for him; he believed the girl was not afraid of death.

Now, being with “Wu Ming,” is she not afraid either?

She never thought, if she died, would Mr. Xiaojiu be sad?

Or has the girl really forgotten Mr. Xiaojiu.

Wu Ming gently pushed Baili Xia out of his embrace, his gaze falling on the tightly held dagger in her hand.

His heart trembled slightly.

“Girl, if you die, Mr. Xiaojiu would definitely be very sad.”

Baili Xia’s eyes dimmed a little, thinking for a moment, then slowly replied, “Time will forget everything.”

This was the reason she always comforted herself; once loved, inevitable pain in separation.

But time could wash away everything.

She believed, one day Uncle would forget her, and have a new life.

“Wu Ming, let’s not talk about this anymore, okay?”

“Let’s hurry out, if we’re any later we might not make it.”

The smoke grew denser; in a little while, they might collapse here without being able to escape.

Wu Ming opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

But ultimately, he did not speak.

If they really died, then so be it.

She did not know, perhaps on the other side, she would not feel guilty.

On the other side, he could continue to protect her with Wu Ming’s identity.

Wu Ming composed himself, his face returning to its usual cold desolation.

“Let’s go, we’re heading out.”

If they stay, it’s a dead end; going out, they can still fight for their lives!
