Seeing Bei Xier return, Nangong Yun’s expression was darker than anyone else’s.

Unexpectedly, she was finally allowed to return.

Moreover, looking at the current situation, her mother seemed even more concerned about her than before.

Her peripheral vision caught sight of Nangong Qingqing, who entered with Bei Xier, and her palm clenched tightly.

She actually came in with Bei Xier; what was she doing just now, couldn’t even stop Bei Xier?

Although she was deeply resentful of Nangong Qingqing, the situation was about to spiral out of control, so Nangong Yun had to quickly think of a solution.

Nangong Yun quickly composed herself, suppressing the displeasure on her face.

She said blandly, “Xi’er, you finally returned? You being kidnapped this time scared me to death.”

“Mu Xiaoyao, he didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

Her words seemed to imply something else, but Bei Xier had already seen through what kind of person she was.

This kind of insincere concern, she couldn’t be bothered to respond to.

Bei Xier directly turned her head away, her gaze landing on Bei Qingyue.

“Mom, you’ve misunderstood, things aren’t what you think.”

Bei Qingyue furrowed her brows, glanced at Mu Xiaoyao out of the corner of her eye, and said to Bei Xier, “Xi’er, what’s going on?”

She had always trusted Nangong Yun’s judgment, convinced this time that Mu Xiaoyao had certainly kidnapped Bei Xier.

This was probably due to last time’s kidnapping incident, where Mu Xiaoyao was suspected, hence a preconceived notion.

But now, Bei Xier returned and immediately clarified for Mu Xiaoyao, thus making the Bei family seem indebted to the Mu family?

Nangong Yun chuckled and spoke up, “Xi’er, why would you say that?”

“I saw with my own eyes on the surveillance footage, Mu Xiaoyao taking you from the restaurant. Could I have seen it wrong?”

Bei Xier’s gleaming eyes merely rolled at her, then addressed Bei Qingyue, “Things aren’t as they appear; there are misunderstandings mixed in.”

“Why don’t we go find Grandma and clarify this together?”

Bei Qingyue’s gaze flashed, a hint of displeasure passing through her eyes.

Despite knowing the Old Madam treated Bei Xier differently, she was now questioning her, yet she wanted to speak with the Old Madam.

Is what she says not the same?

Bei Xier noticed the change in Bei Qingyue’s face and quickly explained, “Grandma must be very worried about me. I just want to see her soon and ease her mind.”

Though still somewhat unhappy, Bei Qingyue nodded after hearing her explanation, saying blandly, “Alright.”

She turned, giving a few instructions to a subordinate nearby, asking him to inform the Old Madam.

Once the subordinate left, Bei Qingyue looked in Baili Xia’s direction, her gaze carrying an irresistible determination.

“Xiaxia, this matter also concerns you.”

“To prevent further misunderstanding, you and Mr. Mu Xiaoyao should come with us to the main house to clarify things.”

Baili Xia could clearly hear the threat in her words, but she wouldn’t refuse.

Now that Brother brought Bei Xier back, judging by Bei Xier’s attitude, she believed she would clear things up for them.

However…

Baili Xia raised her head, meeting Mu Xiaoyao’s gaze.

What worried her was Brother.

Brother was a cold person, reluctant to explain even if misunderstood; she wasn’t sure if he’d be willing to spend the time.

Yet, Mu Xiaoyao seemed truly hesitant, his brow furrowed, face devoid of any expression.

Upon meeting Baili Xia’s gaze, his brow suddenly arched, and he slightly nodded.

For the sake of the girl, he had to go.
