Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 261: Just Like Her Body
Given Mu Xiaojiu’s current condition, attending a press conference would surely worsen his illness.
As Nangong Xu had said, the poison had not yet been cleared from his body.
Exhaustion would allow the venom to penetrate deep into his heart, making it an impossible recovery, even for a god.
Having heard the remarks in the hall, Baili Xia was immediately filled with rage.
How different was forcing Uncle Four to come forward from sentencing him to death?
She strode towards the stairs, the chatter continuing below.
“Dad, if Jiu is truly okay, I don’t see why he can’t come out and clarify the situation.”
Uncle Mu Haoguo spoke gently, his voice not betraying a break in his calm demeanor.
Uncle Mu Dongyu, on the other hand, was evidently growing impatient.
“The shares of Mu Group have already been impacted.
If there’s no move from him, the situation can only worsen.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “Is he waiting for the bankruptcy of the Mu Group?”
“Is it that bad?” Sir Mu frowned, giving both men a glance.
“Is everyone making a mountain out of a molehill?
What could possibly happen to Jiu?
Isn’t he resting at the Sihai Residence?”
“The Sihai Residence was in chaos all day yesterday, father, you wouldn’t know as you were out.”
Mu Haoguo wasn’t willing to let it go and continued to persuade.
“If Jiu is truly okay, let him come over now.
Seeing him safe and sound would certainly relieve our worries.”
“Uncle Four is fine.
I just came back from the Sihai Residence this morning.”
Baili Xia, having descended the stairs, swiftly joined the group and addressed Sir Mu, “Grandpa.”
“Xiaxia is here?
You went to see Uncle Four this morning?”
Each time he saw Baili Xia, Sir Mu’s face instantly lit up with joy.
His obvious favoritism for her was something that the sisters, Mu Ziqing and Mu Ziying, could never hope to match.
Those who didn’t know better might even mistake Baili Xia for his biological granddaughter!
Mu Dongyu, despite this, scoffed, “What would this little girl understand?
Go and play with Ziying.”
On the contrary, Mu Haoguo shot Baili Xia a curious glance.
“You said you came back from the Sihai Residence this morning, which, you should have seen Jiu?”
“Yes,” Baili Xia answered, not shying away from his gaze.
It was admittedly harder to deal with Uncle Mu Haoguo than with Uncle Mu Dongyu.
Mu Dongyu was the kind of person whose mood was evident, while Mu Haoguo was not.
The latter was someone who could shower you with kind smiles while his true thoughts remained hidden to everyone but himself.
This meant that Baili Xia had to be extra careful when speaking to him, afraid of giving anything away.
“I spent last night discussing Mu family matters with Uncle Four until late, so he’s probably still asleep.”
Instead of looking at Mu Haoguo, Baili Xia addressed Sir Mu.
“I just wanted to understand more about the competition of the Eight Big Families, so I lost track of time.”
“That’s fine, Xiaxia.
It’s a good thing to want to earn glory for the Mu family,” Sir Mu responded.
Upon hearing that Jiu was still sleeping, Sir Mu dismissed the matter and called for his breakfast to be prepared.
Both Mu Dongyu and Mu Haoguo were taken aback.
They hadn’t expected Sir Mu to be so easily influenced by the words of a young girl.
Usually, Sir Mu was rather insightful.
What had influenced his judgement this time around?
Was Baili Xia really that important to him?
The extent of his favoritism was outrageous!
Even Baili Xia was a little surprised.
She’d prepared a plethora of explanations that she hadn’t needed to use.
Grandpa…
was really too good to her!
It seemed that Sir Mu held extremely deep affection for her grandfather, Baili Yang.
However, even though she had temporarily evaded trouble in the morning, what about the afternoon or later in the day?
Uncle Four’s injuries weren’t going to heal anytime soon.
Would Uncle Mu Dongyu and Uncle Mu Haoguo really give up so easily?
