Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 537: No longer trying to seduce him

  • Next Chapter

Suddenly, a voice inside Dongfang Jin’s heart seemed to amplify infinitely.

He wanted, wanted to keep Xiaxia by his side, to eternally preserve the smile playing on her lips in this moment.

Just as it was a year ago, and throughout those two years, on countless days.

Her laughter magnified infinitely in his field of vision, always so unrestrained, always so genuinely romantic.

“Jin, that lady is daddy’s ex-wife, Auntie Xinjie.”

Suddenly, a graceful silhouette entered his sight, which abruptly obstructed Dongfang Jin’s gaze towards Baili Xia.

Dongfang Jin nodded nonchalantly, remaining silent.

He recognized He Xinjie, but they hadn’t really conversed much.

Lu Xuening’s figure still blocked his view, making it nearly impossible for him to see the figure behind her in his line of sight.

Dongfang Jin finally retracted his gaze somewhat awkwardly.

As for He Xinjie, upon noticing Dongfang Jin was here and after exchanging greetings with Lu An, she came over to greet him.

She didn’t bring Baili Xia, as He Xinjie knew that Lu Xuening didn’t like Baili Xia interacting with Dongfang Jin.

With nothing to do, Baili Xia had no choice but to wander off to the side hall.

Then, out of boredom, she slipped into the kitchen from the side hall, watching everyone bustle about.

There was still some time before dinner, so she wasn’t sure about why they were summoned so early.

After spending an unknown amount of time in the kitchen, an unexpected figure appeared at the kitchen doorway, Lu Xuening.

“Miss.” Everyone saw her and immediately bowed in salute.

Lu Xuening ignored them and walked straight up to Baili Xia.

She grabbed an apple and sat in the corner, leisurely peeling it alone.

The kitchen was large enough that her presence didn’t disturb anyone.

Everyone always turned a blind eye to her, who could blame He Xinjie for having no standing here?

“What’s the matter?

Hanging out alone in a place like this, aren’t you trying to seduce Jin?”

Lu Xuening walked up to her, looking down on her from above.

Baili Xia didn’t even spare her a glance, of course, she was too lazy to exchange words with her either.

“Did you know?

Jin originally had plans today, but he postponed all his affairs to celebrate my birthday.”

Lu Xuening laughed gracefully, yet it was hard for her to conceal the sense of triumph in her eyes.

“Oh, I know now.” Baili Xia finished peeling the apple and started slicing it to eat, piece by piece.

Her careless demeanor greatly displeased Lu Xuening.

Even knowing how well Jin treated her, she could still remain unmoved, was she pretending?

Pretending to this extent, wasn’t it exhausting?

She sneered inwardly, but continued to maintain a delicate smile on her face.

“Jin and I will be getting married soon.”

“Just an engagement, who knows if it’ll lead to a marriage.” Baili Xia responded indifferently.

A single phrase—”Just an engagement”—caused Lu Xuening’s smile to falter.

She took a deep breath, holding back her temper with great difficulty.

She continued to stare down at Baili Xia, her gaze as condescending and disgusted as if she were looking at a beggar.

“Once engaged, naturally we will marry soon!”

“Oh.” Baili Xia maintained her indifferent demeanor.

This attitude of hers was simply driving Lu Xuening mad.

Today her mood was terrible, downright terrible, but she still had a lot to do.

Snorting coldly, she turned around and walked away.

Only after she was at a distance did Baili Xia lift her eyebrows slightly, sparing a glance at her retreating figure.

She really couldn’t understand why some people love to act like that.

Do they feel happy only when they see others suffering?

Can’t they just live their own lives well?

However, if Lu Xuening were that kind, perhaps, there wouldn’t be so many problems.
