A minute had passed.

However, when everyone expected them to have swam to shore by now, they hadn’t emerged.

But no one was worried.

After all, given their diving skills, they were sure to take more than a minute underwater.

Another minute passed, and they still hadn’t surfaced.

The classmates were in awe of Mr.

Xiaojiu and Mr.

Jin, they were supposedly even more skilled than Chen Ming.

Yet another minute went by, but they were still nowhere to be seen.

They started expressing their astonishment.

Submerging for three minutes without any equipment was unheard of.

Perhaps only professionals could attempt such a stunt.

However, as time ticked by, two more minutes had elapsed, and the pair still hadn’t surfaced.

The classmates started to panic.

Could it be that an accident had occured?

Because they had never heard of anyone who could hold their breath underwater for five whole minutes.

Baili Xia was also worried, although she knew they probably had professional training.

But, five minutes had indeed exceeded her understanding.

Everyone began to pace nervously by the seaside, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mu Xiaojiu and Dongfang Jin.

Unable to contain herself, Baili Xia ran towards shore, intending to fetch Ye Hua or Lei Shuo for help.

At this point, these two were probably the only ones capable of rescuing them in time.

But just as she was about to cross the road towards the beach, cheers erupted from the students at sea.

Turning around, she spotted two silhouettes appearing from the sea, about ten meters from shore, leisurely making their way towards it.

Overjoyed, Baili Xia ran straight towards them.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she plunged into the water and raced towards them, immediately throwing her arms around Mu Xiaojiu.

“Uncle, you scared the life out of me!

I thought…”

“What did you think?” Mr.

Xiaojiu looked down at the small creature clinging onto him, his right hand resting on her shoulder.

“I thought I wouldn’t make it back?” He gave a slight smile, appearing completely at ease.

The tension that had been gripping her all day dissipated significantly with that smile.

She hadn’t expected this little girl to care so much about him.

He had thought that the presence of Dongfang Jin would have swayed her.

As it turned out, she was not only concerned about Dongfang Jin.

He, himself, couldn’t understand why he acted so juvenile today, not just participating in the assessment, but also coming here to play by the sea.

Even more so, when Dongfang Jin’s diving technique had caused the girl’s eyes to shine, he mindlessly jumped in as well.

Only now, he might have finally understood why he did all that.

He just…

wanted her to see more of him.

Although, such feelings…

didn’t quite fit his cool demeanor.

But, he couldn’t deny it.

“Don’t say things like that.” Baili Xia pouted, a hint of moisture in her eyes–whether it was from the sea water or her tears was not clear.

Earlier, when they failed to emerge, she was genuinely frightened.

That kind of anxiety and fear made her extremely uncomfortable.

Now that she could catch her breath, she felt like crying.

Who knew when she had become this fragile.

“Okay, I won’t say a word.” Seeing her red eyes, Mu Xiaojiu patted her head, keeping his promise of staying silent.

Their interaction was rather intimate, and had the classmates not known about their relationship, they would have assumed they were lovers.

But, they probably just considered them as family.

It was normal for family to be fearful for each other, wasn’t it?

Of course, neither Mu Xiaojiu nor Baili Xia seemed aware of this.

Sometimes, certain emotions are impossible to hide.
