Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 749: Wronged but not spoken _1

  • Next Chapter

Xiaoxiao was busy acting on another set, and was still unaware of what was going on with Zimo.

Baili Xia and Zimo did not plan to inform her either, choosing to let her focus on her work for the time being.

When they returned from the film city to the Feixue Media building and entered the lobby, night had already begun to fall.

Before going back to his office, Mu Lingchuan suggested Baili Xia and Zimo go and get dinner, as no one had eaten yet.

By then, quite a few people were in the restaurant.

Among them, some had heard about Zimo’s altercation earlier that day and couldn’t help but cast glances at them.

The media company was brimming with gossipmongers who wouldn’t miss such juicy news.

Baili Xia and Zimo collected their meals and found a spot in a corner to sit down.

Though the space was small, it was comfortable enough for two girls.

The most important thing was that they were next to a vase which created some distance from other tables.

As long as they spoke in low voices here, their conversation would likely go unheard by others.

It wasn’t until both of them had settled down quietly that Baili Xia looked at Zimo.

“Do you want to eat first or talk first?”

Zimo’s hand, which was holding chopsticks, paused briefly before she lowered her head and began eating.

She was upset…But Baili Xia could see that clearly even though she kept it to herself.

Zimo’s stubborn nature genuinely worried her.

The meal began in silence and ended the same way.

Throughout the whole process, not a word was spoken between them.

After finishing her meal, Zimo pushed her dessert to Baili Xia.

Her silent, dark eyes had regained their usual gentleness.

This warmth only surfaced when in the company of her few cherished friends.

“I was in the wrong this time. I’ll correct myself. I’ll ask Mr. Mu for another chance.” she said.

“And then what?” Baili Xia looked at her, pushing the dessert back in front of her.

“Will you truly not speak of the injustice you’ve suffered?”

“It’s all in the past, and besides, I don’t think I suffered anything.”

At present, her top priority was to make money quickly to pay back Xiaxia’s debts.

She hated being in debt.

As long as she owed someone, she would be restrained.

She had still not found Xiaxia after all these years and had already caused her too much suffering.

Now, she had to let her bear the burden of her own mistakes.

Zimo felt she was truly burdening Xiaxia.

“I…I will speak to Mr. Mu. I will handle this.”

With that, she didn’t wait for Baili Xia’s response.

After pushing the dessert towards her once again, she promptly left the restaurant ahead of her.

Zimo left in such a hurry that Baili Xia did not have the chance to dissuade her.

…

On the sixty-sixth floor office hall, all the colleagues had left for the day.

When Zimo knocked on Mu Lingchuan’s office door and entered, he was busy at work.

On seeing her, a hint of impatience flashed across Mu Lingchuan’s gaze.

“At Feixue, we have no tradition of pulling strings. Even Xiaxia started as a temporary stand-in. Moreover, I don’t believe your temperament is suitable for acting.”

His words were clear.

A role as significant as the third lead female character was out of her reach.

Even though he hadn’t had much contact with her, he could see it at a glance.

Stubborn, ice-cold, unfamiliar with social conventions, not one for social events or group activities.

Unless you are already an eminent star, with such a character, it would be impossible to survive in this circle.

Just like today, all the hostility directed at her was due to her complete refusal to fit in.

Acting?

She lacked the necessary talent, not even on par with the most basic temporary actor.
