Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 826: She Must Be Crazy!

“No matter how much you pretend not to care, no matter if you can deceive everyone else, you can’t deceive yourself.”

Similarly, she couldn’t deceive him, who loved her deeply.

Dongfang Jin closed his eyes for a moment, his eyes brimming with bitterness.

“You love him, you love the man you call ‘Uncle’ every day!”

“I do not!” Baili Xia was terrified, her small face turning completely pale.

After he let go of her wrist, she scrambled back, keeping her distance from him.

Facing the sea breeze, she yelled frantically, “I’m not! I don’t love him, not at all! Jin, you can’t slander me!”

She would have to be insane to fall for the man who forced her and then trapped her by his side with an agreement.

She must be mad to love a man who constantly reminded her to obey him, or else he would punish her.

She was insane!

To love a man who cruelly ruined her innocence yet demanded she marry someone else!

She had gone mad!

No!

It was Dongfang Jin who had gone mad!

To say she loved Uncle!

To say she loved that dreadful Mr.

Xiaojiu!

“I’m not! I don’t love him at all! I don’t!”

Dongfang Jin watched the girl nearly losing her sanity, his lips pressed together growing colder, his heart growing colder still.

The more intense her reaction, the deeper she had fallen.

She was in pain, hating herself for liking Mu Xiaojiu, yet the more pain she felt, the more she loved.

In her pain, did she ever consider that there was a man whose heart ached even more seeing her like this?

That girl who could have been his, who had once trusted him completely.

Now, she was going crazy for another man, heartbroken for someone else…

Baili Xia walked ahead, her frenzy giving way to calmness.

Dongfang Jin followed quietly, simply watching her slender silhouette and the long shadow stretched out by the moonlight, saying nothing.

The beach seemed endless, and if he could, he truly wished it would never end.

Then, he could walk beside her forever and ever.

Walking until the seas dried up and the rocks crumbled, walking until the world changed entirely.

After who knows how long, the man behind her finally spoke leisurely.

“Perhaps I understand why he wants you to be with Mu Xiaoyao, but if you are unwilling, I can take you away.”

“Why?” Baili Xia didn’t turn around, her gaze fixed on her own shadow.

The shadow was long, lonely, even though she knew he was right behind her, still very lonely.

“Maybe I shouldn’t ask why.” She laughed, suddenly bending down to pick up a seashell.

With a flick of her wrist, she threw it towards the sea.

Not a ripple formed, the shell too small to even stir the waves.

Just like her existence, was she too insignificant, meaningless to Uncle’s heart?

Before Dongfang Jin could speak, she said with a smile, “Actually… Brother is really nice, at least, he takes good care of me.”

Just as she had said tonight, he was just too cold by nature, but at least, he was kind to her.

“Do you truly willingly want to marry him?” he asked, studying her profile.

“Why not?” Perhaps, in the end, she might indeed marry Brother, who knows?

Of course, what she wanted more now was to first take back that agreement from Uncle.

As for the future, she had her own path to walk, but these thoughts, she didn’t plan to share with anyone.

Dongfang Jin, however, continued to disagree, “You don’t like him, so how can you marry him?”
