Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 84: My People Play However You Want 11_1
“What if…
I mean, what if it’s Uncle who bullies me, would you…
help me?”
Baili Xia’s hand rests on the car door handle, her eyes fervently fixed on Ye Hua’s profile.
He is actually a rather handsome man, just like Ye Hua.
However, with the Mu family awash with attractive and charming men, Ye Hua’s elegance could easily be overlooked.
Yet upon hearing her question, Ye Hua’s expression slowly turns grave.
Baili Xia’s breathing falters, she knew Ye Hua would not aid her.
It wasn’t that she expected him to help; it was just that the two of them were alone in the sightseeing car.
Knowing he was Uncle’s man somehow filled her with a bit of dread.
The fingers holding the handle grew increasingly taut, she hesitated.
Just as she nearly mustered the courage to leap out of the speeding car, Ye Hua finally spoke.
“Mr.
Xiaojiu wouldn’t bully you for no reason, Miss Xiaxia, trust me, Mr.
Xiaojiu is a good person, he just seems a bit cold on the surface.”
Baili Xia bit her lip, her hand still on hers, several times she contemplated pushing the door open.
She knew Uncle better than anyone else.
His malevolence, his devil-like characteristics, only not exposed in the presence of outsiders.
“Miss Xiaxia, I know my words may upset you, but I won’t let you jump out of the car; if you want to stop, I’ll stop immediately.”
As he said that, he swerved off the road and truly did stop, before looking sideward at Baili Xia.
Baili Xia’s small face had gone deathly pale.
He was so observant he noticed her intent to jump; clearly he’d been trained for many years, but he still listened to Uncle’s every whim…
“Miss Xiaxia, Mr.
Xiaojiu really would not arbitrarily bully people.
I trust him.
If there’s any misunderstanding between you, it must only be a misunderstanding.”
Ye Hua looked at her, his profound respect and admiration for Mu Xiaojiu were apparent.
Baili Xia bit her lip hard and looked at him.
Before Ye Hua could say anything else, she cut him off, “There’s no misunderstanding between Uncle and me.
I always listen to him, truly.”
“Miss Xiaxia, are you guarding against me?” Even a dullard like Ye Hua could detect the defensive nuance in her words.
Baili Xia said nothing.
He was so earnest, she couldn’t bring herself to lie to his face.
So, she remained silent.
“I don’t know what misunderstanding exists between you and Mr.
Xiaojiu, but trust me, it’s just a misunderstanding and can be cleared up.”
He brought the car to a complete stop, turned off the engine, and opened the door.
He got out of the car, walked to her side, and without Baili Xia needing to push, he himself opened the door for her.
He extended his hand out, his gaze still sincere, “Miss Xiaxia, if you’re feeling down, why not take a walk?
There’s a leisure cabin nearby, you could go check it out.”
Baili Xia didn’t get out of the car, there were no other people in sight.
Despite the lights illuminating the space between the trees, making it easy to see the path ahead, the silence was unbearable.
So quiet that it was instinctively frightening.
Ye Hua had no idea what exactly he said wrong that suddenly made her so wary of him.
But seeing her like this, his heart couldn’t help but ache a little.
This odd pain came out of the blue; even he had no idea what was happening.
Her wariness, this realization, made him inexplicably uneasy.
