Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 895: In This World There Are No Good People
Guisu had long legs, much longer than Baili Xia’s.
For every step he took, she had to take two, utterly exhausting her.
Apparently, Guisu also realized how hard she was struggling to keep up, and he finally stopped, looking at her, “Why are you following me?”
“Nothing, I just want to check your hand,” Baili Xia panted.
Guisu’s expression darkened, and he instinctively moved his right hand behind his back.
He hated when people looked at his right hand; he did not use it much anymore.
It was not just because he could not use it, but because his right hand was a source of shame for him.
The woman he had trusted for so many years had ruthlessly injured him to save her own life.
Though he wanted to find her, it was only to repay a debt; there were absolutely no residual feelings.
He was not foolish enough to still believe that she had any feelings for him.
“Actually, you don’t need to keep avoiding this issue.
I want to tell you that I’ve learned acupuncture from Nangong Xu, and maybe I can help take a look.”
“No need,” Guisu said coldly.
The tendons in his hand were already severed; what was there to look at?
Even if the wound had completely healed, even if that hand could still grasp things, perform tasks,
it would never be as nimble or useful as before.
Without being able to throw a punch, this hand, to him, might as well be useless.
What difference would treatment make?
It would just be a waste of time and energy.
“Just let me look at it, just a look; why not?” Baili Xia insisted, her bright eyes wide and unblinking as she stared at him.
“Just think of it…
think of it as repaying me for the meal I treated you to.”
“I can pay you back for the noodles,” Guisu said expressionlessly.
Now that he had a job, paying her back for a few bowls of noodles was something he could afford.
Baili Xia rolled her eyes at him and muttered, “What I treated you to was noodles, but it was your stomach that I saved.”
She pouted her lips slightly, “A favor isn’t the same; how can you repay it just by returning a few bowls of noodles?”
“What on earth do you want to do?” His expression grew colder and colder.
He had only happened to see her and her friend passing by; he did not know why, but he just wanted to see her.
He hadn’t expected that this girl would talk about repaying a favor—was there not a single good person in the world?
Did everyone only think about using others?
Even if Baili Xia did not know exactly what he was thinking, from his expression alone, she could guess quite a bit.
Probably the injury Lu Xuening caused him still cast a shadow in his heart.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so defensive against everyone.
But if that’s what he thought, then so be it; she did not care.
“That’s right, I want you to repay a favor; I want to look at your hand.”
“Just say what you want,” he said coldly.
“I just want to look at your hand; haven’t I said it?” Wasn’t she being straightforward enough?
“I don’t know how many times I’ve said it directly; it’s you who’s complicating things, too simple words that you can’t understand.”
“Why look at my hand?” What did looking at his hand have to do with repaying a favor?
“I…” Baili Xia thought for a moment and finally came up with an excuse.
“I’ve recently been studying acupuncture and needed someone to practice on. Since you owe me, you can serve as my practice subject.”
Guisu glared at her, really wanting to walk away far and never deal with this woman again.
He hated anyone who wanted to use him.
Lu Xuening was like that, and so was Baili Xia.
There was not even one good person in this world.
