Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 918: I Heard You Did It for a Girl
At that moment, Mu Xiaojiu had already bathed and changed clothes.
But because an important visitor had suddenly arrived at Sihai Residence, he took off his bathrobe and put on light casual wear.
He immediately went downstairs from the upper floor with Ye Hua and entered the study.
Seeing the woman standing in front of the desk, Mu Xiaojiu moved his lips, wanting to call out to her.
But his throat was so painfully sore that he could hardly make a sound.
He could only wave his hand, signaling Ye Hua to leave, and he walked over himself.
Ye Hua promptly left the room, gently closing the door behind him, and he and Leng Yu each stood guard in the corridor.
Such a solemn expression was rarely seen on his face, indicating how important the woman’s identity in the room was.
Mu Xiaojiu walked up behind the woman, and only with great difficulty suppressed the fiery sensation, and softly called out, “Mrs. Wen.”
The woman’s spine stiffened slightly, put down the book she was holding, and turned to look at him.
Her face was still like it had been a year ago, so extraordinarily handsome that one could not bear to look away.
There was a smile in her eyes, but thinking of something, her brow furrowed, “What’s wrong with your throat?”
Mu Xiaojiu shook his head, showing a rare bit of tameness in front of this woman who was shorter than him.
He wanted to ask her why she had suddenly appeared here, but his throat was really uncomfortable, making it very difficult to speak.
“He asked me to come and see you, so I came,” the woman named Wen Yu seemed to see right through his thoughts.
Her gaze landed on his throat, her brow furrowing even more, “What exactly is going on? Why is your throat like this? Is it inflamed?”
Mu Xiaojiu looked at her and finally nodded.
“I’ll make you some herbal soup to reduce the inflammation,” she said, stepping toward the door.
But Mu Xiaojiu blocked her path to the door first, looking at her and shaking his head.
Wen Yu sighed softly, feeling rather helpless.
“Just wanted to make you some cooling herbal tea, such a simple thing, yet it cannot be done.”
She walked over to the chair in front of the desk and sat down, patting the other chair beside her.
Mu Xiaojiu obediently walked over and sat down beside her.
Looking at this woman who was over forty but still looked as if she was in her early thirties, Mu Xiaojiu asked in a hoarse voice, “How is he?”
“He’s still in the old place, with Jin City being so chaotic lately, it’s not good for him to wander around,” Wen Yu said.
“Mhm,” Mu Xiaojiu nodded, not saying much more.
Wen Yu’s gaze fell on his face, closely studying the child she had almost watched grow up.
After a while, her expression suddenly turned stern, her tone becoming serious.
“I heard you skipped work today to go out with a young girl.”
Mu Xiaojiu looked at her, not denying it, and nodded.
Wen Yu’s expression grew even darker, “He doesn’t know about this yet, and if he knew there was a girl like that by your side…”
“Mrs. Wen,” his voice was really hoarse, and each time he spoke, a sharp pain would shoot through his throat.
The power of the spicy and sour noodles he had today was unexpectedly strong, and since he had come back, he had been feeling very uncomfortable.
Now, deep in his throat was a burning pain.
But some things, even if his throat hurt, he still had to make clear to Mrs.
Wen, “It has nothing to do with her, she doesn’t know anything.”
Wen Yu’s face darkened even more, “Your throat is like this, yet you still rush to speak for her, which shows how important that girl is to you in your heart.”
