Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 931: Uncle Brother is still here

Mu Xiaojiu tried to speak, but Baili Xia immediately shook her head to stop him.

“At a time like this, you still want to speak? Are you really planning to give up on your throat?”

Mu Xiaojiu had no choice but to lie back down, his large hand clutched her small one and would not let go.

Even so, he tugged her toward himself a bit.

Baili Xia knew what he meant, but Brother was still here.

Letting herself sleep cuddled up with him in front of Brother felt too strange.

Moreover, her master had said that he would bring over the herbal medicine later, and she would have to feed him.

How could she sleep now?

Yet he was so forceful, persistently pulling her toward himself, and when she resisted, he simply pulled harder.

Caught off guard, Baili Xia stumbled and ended up sprawled on top of him.

Mu Xiaojiu immediately wrapped his arms around her waist, turned slightly on his side, and enclosed her in his embrace.

“Uncle,” she said, her hands resting on his chest, pushing gently.

Brother was still here; how could he be so unrestrained?

But Mu Xiaojiu paid no attention, holding her close, his face nestled against her head, he closed his eyes, ready to rest.

Nangong Xu had given him an IV with medicine, and Baili Xia didn’t know what else had been added to it.

From the beginning, his eyelids became so heavy it was almost impossible to keep them open, and they only seemed to grow heavier.

However, he really didn’t want to sleep until he saw that the girl was lying peacefully beside him.

Baili Xia could tell he was very sleepy but still stubbornly refused to fall asleep.

Only when she lay in his arms did his tense body relax.

Seeing Uncle like this truly tugged at her heartstrings.

What exactly had he encountered tonight?

Why did it feel like the way he looked at her, even held her, was so different?

Wasn’t everything fine in the afternoon and evening?

What in the world had happened to Uncle?

Knowing he was sleepy, she said nothing, just wrapped her arms around his waist and closed her eyes like he did.

But she couldn’t fall asleep at all; she was merely comforting him into sleep.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the sound of his heavy breathing could be heard; he had fallen asleep.

A few minutes later, Baili Xia gently moved his hand from her waist and slipped out of his embrace.

He didn’t even notice her leaving, so it seemed that the master had indeed added a sleep-aid to his IV.

After tucking him in properly, she slid off the bed and looked up to see Mu Xiaoyao watching her with downcast eyes.

“Brother,” she paused, then said, “I’ll watch over him here; you go ahead and head back.”

Mu Xiaoyao didn’t speak, just quietly observed her and then the now asleep Mu Xiaojiu.

Knowing he was as stubborn as Uncle, Baili Xia didn’t try to persuade him.

She sat down on the sofa, hugging a cushion, waiting for Nangong Xu to bring the medicine later.

Tonight, Mu Xiaoyao hadn’t even brought his laptop; he leaned against the desk, just gazing at the sleeping Mu Xiaojiu.

His face was expressionless, very calm and detached.

Neither spoke, and the room became eerily quiet.

Finally, Baili Xia couldn’t help it and broke the silence.

“Brother, if you really don’t want to leave, why not find a chair to sit in? Isn’t it tiring to stand like that all the time?”

Mu Xiaoyao looked at her, eventually stood upright, and sat down in a nearby chair.

Just when Baili Xia thought he would fall back into his previous silence for another long stretch,

his calm voice, with a hint of hoarseness, suddenly filled the air.

“What exactly happened between you and Uncle today? He seems… a bit different.”
