“Uncle… Uncle, Grandpa and the others are downstairs…” As soon as he approached, Baili Xia immediately felt an immense pressure.

Yet that unique scent of his was so good to smell, so hard… to pull away from.

“Is it your Grandpa?” He simply walked past her, brushing shoulders before settling down on the small sofa.

His long legs crossed over one another, that pose… made Baili Xia look back at him and almost succumb again.

She didn’t understand what he meant by that, it was just a business trip, yet why did it feel like they had grown more distant upon his return?

Baili Xia paused, her fingers lightening their pressure, then after a moment, she continued massaging him.

“He’s my friend.” So, she couldn’t agree to it.

Even though she knew that answering like this would surely make Uncle angry, she couldn’t lie to him.

Under her fingertips, his temples throbbed suddenly— he was angrier than she had imagined.

Even if Baili Xia dared not show any emotion on her face, her heartbeat had already quickened.

“So you’re saying you still want to see him?” As the words left his mouth, Mu Xiaojiu suddenly reached out with a large hand.

By the time Baili Xia realized what was happening, she was already lying across his legs.

Afraid that her stomach would be squeezed, she immediately tried to support herself, but his large hand was on her lower back, preventing her from getting up.

This attempt to rise immediately led to the situation at hand.

A bit cute, a bit… enticing.

Mu Xiaojiu, already irritable, glanced down and suddenly raised his hand, slapping down with his palm.

The smack resonated with a bit of release for him, but for her, it was so embarrassing that her face turned red.

“Uncle!” How could he do this?

They were having a perfectly normal conversation, and he actually… actually hit her!

That was too much!

“Still want to see him?” Mu Xiaojiu ignored her protesting cries, lifted his hand again, and slapped down once more.

With another smack, her involuntary low cry joined the sound: “Ah!”

The two sounds merged, indescribably… bewitching.

Mu Xiaojiu’s throat tensed suddenly, his large hand seemingly carelessly placed down.

“Uncle, you can’t force me like this.” There was nothing between her and Jin, but they were friends.

Just seeing a friend, was he even going to restrict this?

If that was the case, wouldn’t that mean she couldn’t have any male friends in the future?

“Just an ordinary friend?” Did he think he was a fool?

Would ordinary friends always walk arm in arm?

He really was angry tonight, but after such a long time apart, he didn’t want to start arguing right away.

However, he truly wasn’t pleased with her being together with Dongfang Jin—after all, they had those two years together.

When they had almost reached the point of discussing marriage, could he still say that there was nothing between them?

He could let go of the past, as ruminating on it wouldn’t help.

After all, he had not been a part of her past, and it was too late to be involved now.

But he couldn’t ignore the present and the future.

Baili Xia couldn’t explain; after all, he had seen her and Jin so close together today.

How could she explain that?

Should she tell him that she didn’t know what to do because she had ruined his child, and Jin was merely comforting her?

His child… just the thought made her heart ache again.

She had his baby in her belly, but when she was so desperate she felt near death, who was comforting her?

She didn’t mean to blame him; she knew he had his unavoidable obligations, knew he was so busy he hardly had time to rest.

But in her moments of confusion and helplessness, she too needed someone to tell her which path to take.

She was only eighteen, barely able to take care of herself—how was she expected to take care of a child?

She turned her face away, eyes lowered, and when she didn’t know how to respond, she chose silence instead.

Mu Xiaojiu’s anger, barely suppressed, reared up violently at her response.
