Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 971: Why Do Such a Thing with Mr

Baili Xia nodded slightly, paying little attention to Ning Anran.

It wasn’t because of the distance she created; rather, it was that she had many things she wanted to do today, yet she hadn’t made up her mind.

Uncle didn’t want the baby in her belly; even more, he’d said that if she was pregnant, it definitely couldn’t be his.

Would he suspect the child was Jin’s if she now told him she was carrying his baby?

Thinking about it made her feel ridiculous; her own man didn’t even have that bit of trust—so what was the point in keeping the child?

Her mind was in turmoil; where was the energy to deal with others?

Ning Anran sat beside her, occasionally stealing glances at her.

Before the meeting, a counselor would come to hold a short class meeting; it wasn’t long.

But everyone was listless, not one person focused on the counselor speaking at the front.

Ning Anran couldn’t resist and stealthily looked at Baili Xia again, this time her gaze moving from her face to her neck.

She clearly spotted something, but wasn’t sure, and she didn’t dare get closer to look at the faint marks on her neck.

Yet, she was overwhelmingly curious.

Eventually, even Baili Xia noticed her behavior.

Seeing her staring at her neck, Baili Xia’s cheeks reddened, and she subconsciously tugged at her collar.

“What’s wrong?

Is there something on my neck?

Is it dirty?”

“No, nothing.

I must’ve seen it wrong.”

Ning Anran hurriedly smiled at her, hands sweating cold sweat, but she could only pretend to be oblivious.

The counselor spoke from the podium, while below, it was anything but quiet—everyone was distracted in small groups.

Ning Anran fiddled with her ballpoint pen, somewhat bored.

Last night, Mr.

Xiaojiu was in Baili Xia’s room all along, staying in the bathroom with her.

The old man might not have noticed, but she was exceedingly familiar with Mr.

Xiaojiu’s scent.

Especially the smell of cigarettes in the room, the cigarette butts in the wastebasket, clearly hadn’t been there long.

Mr.

Xiaojiu hadn’t left at all.

What on earth were they doing in the bathroom?

The old man had knocked on the door for such a long time, and Baili Xia wouldn’t open it, claiming she was bathing in the bathroom.

If it were really a bath, clothes would have to come off.

Alone in the bathroom, a man and a woman, taking off clothes to shower, one could easily guess what might happen.

She lay awake all night, pondering what had transpired between Baili Xia and Mr.

Xiaojiu.

From the beginning when Mr.

Xiaojiu carried Baili Xia from the conference room back to the dorm, he’d done so personally.

At that time, Baili Xia appeared as though she was a girl who had been violated, utterly limp.

She should’ve realized then that their relationship was unusual, but then Baili Xia joined the Mu family and had always called Mr.

Xiaojiu “Uncle.”

When she asked her last time, she said she didn’t like Mr.

Xiaojiu, and that was when she believed her lie, trusting that there was nothing between them.

Yet, she hadn’t expected that behind closed doors their relationship was already so messed up.

Xiaxia, if everyone just quietly liked Mr.

Xiaojiu, how good that would be.

But why did she have to take that step forward, to do such things with Mr.

Xiaojiu?

Weren’t they good friends?

Do good friends deceive each other?

Why did she have to lie to her again?

There were many questions in her heart, always suppressed, everything bottled up in her chest, clogging it completely.

Whenever she thought about it, her chest hurt so much that it made breathing difficult.

She didn’t want to deal with Baili Xia because she was really angry.

Yet Baili Xia acted as if nothing was wrong, never taking the initiative to explain anything to her.

Perhaps she felt that she no longer deserved to be her friend, so she even spared the explanation.
