Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 986: Lies One After Another
“Grandpa.” Baili Xia’s little face turned bright red as she watched Sir Mu, her granddad, get excited all by himself; she was so anxious that she didn’t know how to explain.
“Grandpa, I really don’t have it, it’s really just an upset stomach.”
Uncle stood not far away, watching her with a complicated gaze.
This kind of thing, bringing up such a topic, was making her nervously on edge!
Seeing Baili Xia’s face, though flushed, yet earnest and serious, Sir Mu’s face suddenly fell with disappointment.
Ah, he had thought there would be a little grandchild to play with.
“If not, then let Nangong Xu take a look,” came a cold voice suddenly from Mu Xiaojiu’s mouth.
Baili Xia felt that Uncle had gotten angry again.
Just a moment ago he seemed so tender, but now he had turned back into that cold Mu Xiaojiu.
Was it just because of the few words just now?
Because Brother had teased her about her and Brother?
But wasn’t this the outcome he had wanted to see all along?
The affair between her and Brother, he had orchestrated it himself.
“Really no need to look, I’ll be fine with some stomach medicine,” she said as she wiped away the remnants of water at the edge of her lips, offering everyone a smile.
This look, it seemed like truly nothing was wrong.
“No, come with me to Sihai Residence now, and let Nangong Xu have a look,” Uncle’s voice was still cold, his large palm landing on her wrist.
“There’s really nothing wrong,” Baili Xia was scared senseless and in a flurry, she pushed him away.
She cast her gaze downwards, allowing her flickering eyes to be shielded by her lashes.
“I’ve had this before; if I don’t sleep well at night, I easily catch a cold, and the next day I would have an upset stomach. I just need to take some medicine for it, and I’ll be fine quickly.”
She took a deep breath before meeting Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes.
At that moment, he was looking straight into her eyes, his gaze sharp as if he was determined to see whether she was lying or not.
She did not dodge; she knew she wouldn’t be able to outstubborn Uncle—if she did, he would surely insist on sending her to the master for an examination.
In the end, Mu Xiaojiu turned around and returned to his seat.
Baili Xia let out a heavy sigh of relief; she had finally convinced Uncle.
Seeing that even Uncle believed Baili Xia, the others dropped the subject, expressing care and urging her to quickly take her medicine.
After all, today’s competition was very important; nobody could afford any mishaps.
Breakfast was soon over.
Baili Xia told everyone she wanted to return to her room first to take some stomach medicine and then meet up with them at the competition.
The others left first, leaving only Mu Xiaoyao waiting for Baili Xia at the grand entrance.
When Baili Xia came out, Mu Xiaoyao looked like he really noticed her face had relaxed a lot.
The two got into the car, and Mu Xiaoyao drove towards the competition venue.
As they drew nearer to the competition site, Baili Xia seemed to grow more and more nervous, her hands turning somewhat pale from her tight grip.
Her mind repeatedly went over the moves taught to her by Wu Ming; after all, she still lacked real combat experience.
“Why don’t you explain?” Mu Xiaoyao suddenly asked.
Baili Xia was momentarily stunned, her thoughts pulled back to the present: “Explain…
explain what?”
“About you being pregnant,” Mu Xiaoyao said indifferently.
Since it had been noticed already, why keep hiding it?
“Then do you suggest I say I’m carrying Uncle’s child?” How was she supposed to explain such a matter?
“…” It seemed, indeed, it couldn’t be said that way.
But, a child always has a father, and if people won’t think it’s Uncle’s, they would certainly conclude it’s his.
He didn’t care, but he didn’t know how to spin the web of lies further.
How could he make the lie believable in the future?
For one lie to cover another, as the lies piled up, would he still be able to explain things clearly in the future?
