Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 993: Abstaining All For That Girl
The onlookers were all stunned.
What the heck was this about?
Both competitors were forfeiting?
What happened to the battle of the century that had been promised?
Yet neither of them paid any heed to the crowd watching below.
As soon as they exited the arena, they strode towards the women’s division.
Although everyone looked disappointed, they followed them to the venue for the women’s competition.
When they arrived at the women’s division, the finals were about to begin.
Sure enough, Baili Xia was ascending to the stage.
Seeing Mu Ziying standing beside Baili Xia, Mu Xiaojiu’s gaze held not even a trace of warmth, “Don’t you know she’s not feeling well?”
Confronted with Mu Xiaojiu’s icy demeanor, Mu Ziying felt a flicker of fear, her words trembling as she spoke.
“No, no, it’s not that, Uncle.
Against Sima Liuyue, I had no hope of winning.”
“So you just let her?” His words only served to deepen Mu Xiaojiu’s displeasure.
As Mu Ziying stood there, uncomfortable, Baili Xia hurriedly stepped in front of her to shield her.
“This isn’t her fault.
There’s nothing wrong with my health, and besides, I wish to compete against Sima Liuyue.”
“You don’t realize how formidable Sima Liuyue is!
Withdraw now, lest you get hurt,” Dongfang Jin interjected from the side.
He was well aware of Sima Liuyue’s strength; although she couldn’t compare to the men, within the women’s division, she was undeniably dominant.
“I can’t withdraw,” Baili Xia replied instantly, her eyes resolute.
This was the final match, and although she knew she couldn’t defeat Sima Liuyue, she least of all wanted to withdraw and disgrace the Mu family.
Losing was one thing; to lose was simply to lose, and there was no use in blaming anyone.
But to flee the battlefield would be disgraceful – where would the Mu family put their face then?
Observing her steadfast appearance, Dongfang Jin realized it was futile to try and stop her, so he merely glanced at Mu Xiaojiu.
Mu Xiaojiu, too, could feel Dongfang Jin’s gaze, yet he was at a loss for words.
Forget it; let her go.
I’ll stay here to protect her, ready to intervene if anything goes wrong.
In the center of the arena, Baili Xia stood quietly, facing Sima Liuyue.
Sima Liuyue maintained her aloof demeanor, slightly irritated at losing the archery contest to Baili Xia previously.
But even now, she hadn’t regarded Baili Xia as a threat.
It wasn’t contempt, but rather, Baili Xia simply hadn’t caught her attention.
Having observed the earlier matches, she knew that Baili Xia stood no chance against her.
What she couldn’t understand was what gave this seemingly frail and slender girl the audacity to stand up and challenge her on this platform?
In Sima Liuyue’s eyes, perhaps Mu Ziying was even stronger than Baili Xia.
At the referee’s call, the match officially commenced.
Sima Liuyue didn’t move, considering such an opponent unworthy of making the first move.
Seeing that Sima Liuyue hadn’t budged an inch, Baili Xia raised her hand in a salute as a sign of respect for her opponent.
Then she advanced two steps forward, slowly delivering the first punch.
Though her opponent looked down upon her, she could not dishonor the Mu family.
The first punch was merely a courtesy, acknowledging the opponent’s grace.
Sima Liuyue slightly shifted her body, effortlessly dodging Baili Xia’s slow fist.
As the two exchanged blows, the real contest began.
From Sima Liuyue’s first move, those watching below could tell that her strength was far superior to Baili Xia’s.
Be it in physique or technique, she was in a league beyond Baili Xia’s reach.
Her footwork was meteoric, her palms like sharp swords, she swiftly closed in on Baili Xia…
