The door closed behind Anaria, cutting off the noise from outside.

The moment she stepped farther into the residence, she heard another furious roar.

She stopped.

A few servants stood against the walls, their faces filled with fear. One of them quickly moved out of Anaria’s way.

"He has been like this since he returned," the servant whispered.

Anaria looked toward the large room ahead.

"Lord Zane?"

The servant nodded.m "He came back from another settlement two days ago. He was already injured and behaving strangely, but his condition has become worse."

Another loud crash came from inside.

Everyone flinched.

Anaria tightened her hold on the baby "What happened at the settlement?"

"We don’t know," the servant answered. "He returned alone. Since then, his body has been affected by something none of us understand."

Anaria remembered the corrupted beastmen from the forest "Has anyone been able to treat him?"

The servant shook his head "No one can get close enough."

A deep growl came from the room.

Anaria looked at the doorway.

The system chimed.

[Target confirmed.]

[Lord Zane has been affected by corrupted energy.]

[Reminder of task]

[Task: Volunteer to soothe Lord Zane.]

[Objective: Successfully stabilize the target.]

Anaria stared ahead "I already know?"

[Okay]

She looked toward the room again. This was dangerous but it was also an opportunity.

Zane was Lord of Wolfrine. If anyone knew what was happening in the clan, it would be him. Perhaps getting close to him would give her information she could not find in the market.

Anaria turned around "Lead me to him."

The servants looked at her in shock.

"You?" one of them asked.

"Yes."

"You don’t understand. He might hurt you."

"I know."

She carefully adjusted the baby against her chest.

"But I have treated people affected by this condition before."

The servant hesitated before rushing outside to inform the guards and confirm what this crazy woman was saying.

A moment later, Kenai and Kai entered.

Kenai immediately looked concerned "You’re really going inside?"

"Yes."

Kai frowned "Anaria, that beastman is completely out of control."

"I know, but I can calm him."

Kenai glanced at the baby "And you’re taking the child with you?"

"I can’t leave her alone."

He looked uneasy, but he understood "We’ll stay close."

Anaria nodded.

The guards led them toward the room.

The closer they got, the louder the sounds became.

Something heavy struck the wall.

Kai stepped closer to Anaria "If anything happens, call us."

"I will."

A guard stopped them at the entrance "Only she goes inside."

Kenai looked at the guard"We’ll remain right outside."

The guard nodded.

Anaria took a deep breath.

Then she stepped through the doorway.

The door closed behind her.

Inside, the room was in complete disorder.

Several wooden objects had been broken. A table had been overturned, and pieces of wood covered the floor.

At the far end of the room stood a huge wolf beastman.

His dark hair was disheveled, his breathing was heavy, and his amber eyes were clouded with rage.

His muscles were tense as he stared around the room.

Anaria stopped several steps away.

The wolf suddenly turned toward her. A deep growl came from his throat.

Anaria did not move "Lord Zane?"

His eyes fixed on her. The baby stirred against her chest.

Anaria lowered her voice "I’m not here to hurt you."

Zane snarled Then he rushed toward her.

Anaria quickly stepped aside.

Zane’s hand struck the wooden wall where she had been standing, cracking it.

The baby began crying.

Anaria immediately held the child closer "Shh. Don’t cry."

Zane turned toward the sound.

Anaria’s heart pounded. She could not let his attention remain on the baby "Look at me," she said softly.

Zane growled.

Anaria slowly stepped toward him "Look at me, Zane."

His amber eyes met hers.

She could see the corruption clearly now. It was not simply anger. Something dark seemed to be twisting through his body, making him lose control of himself.

Anaria raised one hand "I know you’re in pain."

Zane’s breathing became heavier.

She took another step "You don’t have to fight me."

He suddenly raised his hand.

Anaria did not retreat Instead, she activated her soothing ability.

A gentle wave of energy moved through the room.

Zane froze.

His fingers slowly relaxed.

The tension in his shoulders began to disappear.

Anaria continued.

"That’s it. Calm down."

The wolf beastman’s breathing gradually slowed.

The wild look in his eyes weakened.

Another wave of soothing energy passed through him.

Zane lowered his hand.

Anaria remained where she was until she was certain he would not attack again.

The baby was still whimpering softly against her chest.

Anaria rubbed the child’s back "You’re safe."

Zane stared at her.

For the first time since she entered, he seemed to actually see her.

His eyes moved from her face to the baby against her chest, then back to her.

Anaria looked at him carefully "Are you feeling better?"

Zane said nothing. He seemed confused.

He looked around the damaged room before looking at his own hands "What happened?"

Anaria took a slow breath "You were affected by the corruption."

Zane looked at her "You stopped it?"

"Yes."

He stared at her for another moment "Who are you?"

Anaria hesitated.

She had expected him to ask "My name is Anaria."

"Anaria," Zane repeated quietly.

She nodded "I was told you were suffering from the same condition I have seen in other settlements."

Zane’s expression became more serious "You have seen this before?"

"Yes."

Before he could ask another question, the system chimed.

[Task completed.]

[Lord Zane has been successfully soothed.]

[800 system coins received.]

[Special reward received: Purification Crystal and boost in breast milk for the baby.]

Anaria ignored the system for the moment.

Zane continued staring at her "You saved me."

Anaria gave him a small nod "I only did what I could."

Zane looked at the woman standing before him.

She was carrying a child against her chest, yet she had walked into his room while everyone else had been too afraid to approach him.

He had never seen anyone do that before.

The door opened slightly.

Kenai’s voice came from outside "Anaria?"

"I’m fine," she answered.

The door closed again.

Zane looked toward it "You came here with people?"

"My mates," Anaria replied.

Zane’s eyes returned to her "Mates?"

"Yes."

He remained silent for a moment.

Anaria adjusted the baby, who had finally stopped crying.

She did not know it yet, but this strange meeting had given her exactly what she needed.

She had gained access to the most powerful beastman in Wolverine.

And Zane was still confused at whom the lady standing in front of him was.
