Outside the black soil, Qiqi was leading the Golden Core Black Bear Spirit named Confusion Insect, inspecting the surrounding spatial fissures. The two beasts were over a dozen miles from Fang Qingyuan and Jinbao, and as they examined the area, they communicated privately using their Divine Sense.

"The black soil here has decreased significantly. It’s completely different from when I first came. No wonder he sent me away back then."

A thoughtful look flashed through Qiqi’s eyes. The black soil Fang Qingyuan had collected here over the past six months had permanently altered the landscape. Since only half a year had passed, Qiqi still remembered what it had looked like before.

Confusion Insect was a black bear with a rather long, narrow snout. He was currently using his Lifebound Talent to sense the surrounding spatial fissures. Hearing what Qiqi conveyed through her Divine Sense, he replied nonchalantly,

"That has nothing to do with us. As a human Golden Core Cultivator, Fang Qingyuan has far too many secrets. Right now, we’re the ones who need his help, so it’s best to just pretend we don’t see certain things."

Confusion Insect was very clear-headed. As a future resident of the Qingyuan Sect, he was very good at understanding his own position.

The human world wasn’t very welcoming to demonic beasts in the first place. Without Fang Qingyuan to vouch for them, both Qiqi and Confusion Insect would be hunted down the moment they set foot in the human world alone.

Seeing that Confusion Insect, the last among them to achieve his Golden Core, had such a clear understanding of the situation, Qiqi paused for a moment before replying,

"You have a point. We’re in a cooperative relationship with Fang Qingyuan, so we can’t get too hung up on certain things. We’ll pretend we didn’t see this anomaly. For now, whatever he says, goes. If there are any issues, we’ll let the Old Ancestor talk to him personally."

Confusion Insect nodded, his bear-like face resuming its blank expression. He extended his Divine Sense into the various spatial fissures, carefully sensing the different conditions inside.

Under the effect of his Lifebound Talent, the spatial fissures that seemed exceptionally dangerous to others appeared to Confusion Insect as space divided into different layers, densely packed throughout the surrounding void. If one were to enter physically without a clear view of the path, they would be shredded to pieces.

Only Divine Sense, which had no physical substance, could take the place of the naked eye, allowing one to venture deep inside and find a clear path.

However, probing these void fissures with Divine Sense was not entirely without risk. If one encountered a fissure with a highly unstable structure and failed to withdraw their Divine Sense in time, it would be devoured. This was precisely why Confusion Insect sometimes appeared dazed and confused.

But the spatial fissures before him had existed for a very long time and were not at risk of sudden collapse. Thus, Confusion Insect’s investigation appeared remarkably relaxed.

After a long while, the two beasts returned to Fang Qingyuan, and Confusion Insect began to report:

"Sect Leader Fang, my investigation revealed that the void structure here is much looser than elsewhere. It seems to have been expanded by some creature proficient in the void, and these spatial fissures are likely remnants from its activity.

Furthermore, I’ve discovered several fissure passages leading to the very center of the black soil. If you wish to try entering, Sect Leader, I can guide you."

Hearing Confusion Insect’s words, a look of delight appeared on Fang Qingyuan’s face. ’A specialist demonic beast really makes all the difference,’ he thought. ’He can grasp the situation as soon as he arrives. In comparison, my previous method of sending mutant rat beasts in was as idiotic as opening a blind box. Just utterly stupid.’

’What a waste of those thousand-plus mutant rat beasts. Even though they were only at the Qi Cultivation Level and weren’t worth much, they were still a sizable asset when added up.’

Seeing Confusion Insect’s confidence, Fang Qingyuan was no longer in a rush. His eyes darted slightly as a thought occurred to him. ’As the saying goes, it’s better to have something yourself than to rely on others. If I encounter a situation like this again, I can’t always be scrambling to find help at the last second.’

’Besides, learning more about the void will be advantageous for the upcoming operation.’

So, Fang Qingyuan grew interested in Confusion Insect’s profound knowledge of the void. He asked him directly,

"Could you teach me about this knowledge of the void?"

Qiqi and Confusion Insect were stunned. A human actively seeking to learn from a demonic beast? That was unheard of.

But since Fang Qingyuan was the one asking, Confusion Insect naturally wouldn’t refuse. He thought for a moment before saying,

"Most of my knowledge of the void stems from my lineage. I possess a trace of the Void Moon Bear bloodline and am naturally attuned to the void. Therefore, most of what I know was awakened from my own bloodline. I can only share some of my personal insights with you, Sect Leader."

A demonic beast’s bloodline could undergo atavism through continuous cultivation. In truth, not all of their ancestors were powerful. But over tens of millions of years, there were always a few ancestors whose cultivation realms were heaven-defying, and they integrated the Heaven and Earth Arrays they had comprehended into their own bloodlines.

And these residual bloodlines, after eons of continuous evolution, would always produce a few lucky descendants who would awaken the corresponding laws, thus forming their own Lifebound Talent.

This was the evolutionary path of demonic beasts, a fact known to many Beast Tamers in the Cultivation Realm. For this reason, Fang Qingyuan was not disappointed by Confusion Insect’s explanation.

"Anything you can share would be welcome. Knowledge of the void is rare and advanced, even in the human world. In all my time cultivating, I’ve rarely encountered any texts on the subject. To have an ally like you, an expert in the void, is a great fortune for our Qingyuan Sect."

Hearing Fang Qingyuan’s praise, a shy expression flashed across Confusion Insect’s furry bear face. Honored by Fang Qingyuan’s high regard, he began to explain his understanding of the void.
