Chapter 158 - 140: Flying Ship
Chapter 158: Chapter 140: Flying Ship
Li Qian sat in the airport’s departure lounge, not yet having boarded. His thoughts were a whirlwind. ’I never expected the Mu Family, which seems so prosperous on the surface, to be hiding such a crisis.’
Every family has its own troubles. But the Mu Family’s problem was more than just a simple trouble—it was a catastrophe. If they couldn’t overcome it, it was entirely possible that the family would fall into decline.
Of course, the impact wouldn’t be significant for the next generation or two. The Mu Family was a thousand-year-old family. With a millennium of accumulated power, even if they were to decline, it wouldn’t happen so quickly.
Moreover, given the shrewdness of the Mu Family’s old master, it was hard to say whether they would truly fall into decline.
Looking at the USB drive in his hand, Li Qian couldn’t help but mutter to himself, ’The older, the wiser. This is no small favor. If I’m confident I can pull it off, I should probably help.’
The old master had treated him so courteously, partly with the intention of bestowing a favor. If this information wasn’t truly precious and something he needed, he wouldn’t have even considered it.
Li Qian didn’t like being indebted to others. However, since this favor was a relatively easy one to repay, he didn’t dwell on it.
He inserted the USB drive into the port at the bottom of his phone, put on his VR glasses, and pressed a button. A screen of light, visible only to him, appeared before his eyes.
The light screen was about half a meter in length and width, densely covered with text. This was the information the Mu Family had collected over the years.
Part of it was related to the mutation of the Ancient Golden Rong Tree, but an even larger portion was simply their treasured collection.
The books collected by a thousand-year-old Beast Taming Family were naturally of a value that ordinary books could not compare to. Li Qian only glanced at them for a moment before he was completely absorbed.
It wasn’t until the alarm he had set beforehand went off that Li Qian realized half an hour had already passed.
He turned off the VR glasses but didn’t take them off. Following the instructions, he began the boarding process. Although he had flown on planes in his past life, this was his first time on a Flying Ship that looked like a sci-fi warship, so he couldn’t help but feel a little excited.
There were no ticket agents. Guiding lights automatically lit up on the floor, so conspicuous that even an illiterate person would know where to go.
Li Qian followed the lights into a continuously extending tunnel. Seeing this, he immediately recognized that the extendable passageway was likely made of Active Metal.
After entering the Active Metal tunnel, Li Qian stood perfectly still. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to move, but that according to the instructions, he didn’t need to.
The Active Metal tunnel would automatically transport him to the Flying Ship’s boarding gate.
As the Active Metal extended, it only took a few minutes for Li Qian and the other passengers to be delivered to the entrance of the Flying Ship.
The passengers entered in an orderly fashion. Once inside, Li Qian looked around curiously. The interior was luxurious, with all sorts of display screens and lights, giving him the feeling of being inside a large Mecha.
To be precise, it wasn’t just a feeling—it was a fact. Strictly speaking, this Flying Ship was a large Mecha.
If it encountered danger, it could transform into a Flying Mecha at any time to battle enemies.
He briefly searched the central aisle and soon found his seat.
Li Qian was heading to Zhonghai City. The Mu Family had bought his ticket, which was for first class. It was much more spacious and comfortable than economy.
There were only four seats in a row, arranged in a staggered pattern.
After finding his seat, Li Qian didn’t waste any time. He sat down and turned on his VR glasses again to continue reading.
The Mu Family had given him a lot of information. Most of it was quite precious, with some of it being unique copies or even the personal notes of a certain Cultivation Master.
Li Qian read with great focus. It wasn’t until the Flying Ship started up with the sounds of ascent that he snapped back to reality and glanced out the window.
Unlike the airplanes from his past life, the Flying Ship didn’t take off from a runway. Instead, it moved to a launch point and then used its powerful engines to take off vertically.
After reaching a certain altitude, it would level out and fly toward its destination.
At this moment, the Flying Ship Li Qian was on was in the process of ascending. He noticed that it wasn’t just him; a young woman in sunglasses next to him was also gazing out the window.
The sunglasses were large, covering almost half her face. However, judging from the visible part of her face, her lips, and her chin, she was likely a great beauty.
Because the seats were staggered, the four seats in the row weren’t in a straight line. The woman was just to his side and slightly ahead, allowing him a perfect view of her profile.
’Hmm. Very exquisite, and quite alluring.’
Since transmigrating, Li Qian had seen his fair share of beauties. From his teachers, Zhu Bingqing and Chu Xiran, to his classmates, Tu Jiaojiao and Li Lanying, and even Gao Yaxin, whom he had consulted early on, not to mention the rare beauties Mu Qianqian and Zhao Xiwei.
So after a few more glances, Li Qian averted his gaze and went back to reviewing the information from the Mu Family.
The Mu Family had been very thoughtful. The information they provided was almost entirely related to cultivation. It seemed they knew exactly what kind of information Li Qian needed and lacked the most at this stage.
Li Qian immersed himself in the ocean of information, reading at a steady, unhurried pace. He wasn’t short on time, so there was no need to rush.
Just as Li Qian was lost in the sea of information, an unknown amount of time having passed, the smoothly flying ship suddenly lurched violently.
The jolt instantly snapped Li Qian back to his senses. He scanned his surroundings, a look of confusion in his eyes.
’What’s going on?’
Logically, with the performance capabilities of a Flying Ship, such severe turbulence should be impossible unless it encountered extreme weather like a typhoon or blizzard.
Puzzled, Li Qian didn’t hesitate. He looked directly out the ship’s window to investigate.
Soon, Li Qian noticed something unusual. The weather outside the window wasn’t bad at all.
Just then, the Flying Ship’s broadcast suddenly came on. "Dear passengers, please do not be alarmed. The Peace Flying Ship is currently passing through the habitat of Gray Bean Doves and Storm Eagles and is experiencing some harassment from a few Storm Eagles."
The captain’s voice came over the broadcast again, doing his best to soothe the passengers’ nerves. "...Please don’t worry. It’s not a major issue."
The moment the broadcast sounded, Li Qian glanced out the window and saw the Flying Ship’s defensive measures.
A large swarm of small, black, millstone-sized flying robots was released from the Flying Ship.
Seeing this, Li Qian roughly understood what was happening and watched more intently.
