Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 160 - 142: Instant Movement

Chapter 160: Chapter 142: Instant Movement

Inside the cabin of the Flying Ship, the passengers watched the large flock of Gray Bean Doves and Storm Eagles plummet from the sky, and a sense of relief washed over them.

Just as they thought the incident was over, like every other uneventful flight they had experienced, disaster struck...

A bizarre, black Wind Blade shot out from an unknown location. It was incredibly fast, striking the hull of the Yunyan 97 in the blink of an eye.

The sudden impact from the black Wind Blade sent the entire Flying Ship into a violent shudder. Even though all the passengers were Beast Masters, they were still thrown off balance, with some nearly being slammed against the cabin walls.

"Ah..."

"Dammit!"

"What’s going on?"

"Wasn’t it over?"

"..."

Inside the Flying Ship, passengers gasped and screamed. Once the vessel stabilized slightly, they all rushed to look outside, desperate to see what was happening.

And then, they witnessed a truly shocking sight. Countless Wind Blades were raining down, a dense and relentless barrage.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Outside the cabin, a series of explosions erupted, sounding like a string of firecrackers.

It was the mechanical Flying Locusts.

They had almost no power to fight back and were utterly annihilated as the Gale Feather Blade swept through them.

In truth, if the captain hadn’t had the foresight to activate the defensive barrier ahead of time, the Yunyan 97 would have certainly sustained heavy damage.

The passengers were terrified and stunned.

"Look!" someone shouted, pointing in the direction the attack had come from. They quickly spotted the culprit.

It was a Flying Pet Beast that strongly resembled a Storm Eagle.

Its body was nearly twice the size of a normal Storm Eagle.

Most of an ordinary Storm Eagle’s feathers are cyan, but the majority of this bizarre creature’s feathers were black.

The remaining feathers on its tail and wingtips were not the usual white but a striking crimson.

Li Qian followed their gazes.

Soon, his brows furrowed instinctively.

He saw that the strange Storm Eagle’s eyes were glowing with a crimson light—a sight that instantly brought back memories.

Some very unpleasant memories.

The Black Divine Teachings!

Yes, the scene before him was just like when that Cultist from the Black Divine Teachings had puppet-mastered a Violent Salamander to attack him.

At that same moment, in a spot Li Qian hadn’t noticed, the pretty woman sitting beside him narrowed her eyes behind her sunglasses.

In the Flying Ship’s cockpit, the captain and the young pilot had also spotted the strange Storm Eagle.

The captain immediately ordered the young pilot, "Send a distress signal to base, right now! Tell them Cultists are attacking the Yunyan 97."

With that said, he focused his gaze on the central control screen. "Yunyan 97, begin an immediate counterattack. Lethal force is authorized."

"Yunyan 97 acknowledges. Counterattack initiated. Force level: unrestricted," the cold, mechanical voice on the screen responded.

As the mechanical voice spoke, rows of thick gun barrels suddenly extended from the Flying Ship’s flanks.

RAT-TAT-TAT...

Muzzle flashes erupted like countless fiery serpents. Bullets, autocannon shells, and energy beams poured out in a relentless torrent, as if they were free.

The dense barrage formed an inescapable net of firepower, completely enveloping the strange Storm Eagle.

Li Qian watched this unfold.

Just when he thought the Yunyan 97’s ferocious assault would surely have an effect, the outcome defied his expectations.

The strange Storm Eagle suddenly flashed and vanished. The next instant, it reappeared outside the net of firepower.

Seeing this, Li Qian’s eyes widened in disbelief.

He was extremely familiar with this Skill—the ability to vanish and reappear in an instant. He had seen it not long ago, used by Elder Tie’s Four-Winged Mantis.

But the creature caught in the ship’s barrage was a Storm Eagle, not a Four-Winged Mantis. Its attribute was Wind, while Instant Movement was a Skill exclusive to the Space Element.

How could he not be shocked and astonished by such a bizarre scene unfolding right before his eyes?

In his state of shock and amazement, an idea suddenly struck him like a sledgehammer to the head.

A BUZZ resounded in his mind.

He had an epiphany.

Instant Movement!

’That’s it, Instant Movement!’

’The Gray Bean Dove can evolve into a Sky Escape Eagle. Even if it involves the Void Stone and passing through a Teleportation Array, that doesn’t change the fact that the species must have a latent potential for it.’

’Otherwise, no amount of resources poured into it would ever trigger a change.’

’So, Instant Movement might be the key to the Gray Bean Dove’s evolution into a Sky Escape Eagle!’

As Li Qian pondered this, a quest notification suddenly chimed in his mind.

[Inspiration Value +5]

[Quest One: Evolution method for Gray Bean Dove to Sky Escape Eagle. Current progress: 96%!]

Hearing the notification in his mind, Li Qian froze for a moment.

Once he processed it, a wave of joy washed over him.

If the circumstances weren’t so dire, he wouldn’t have been able to stop himself from laughing out loud.

"A blessing in disguise... I never expected to have such a lucky break," he muttered to himself. Then, he refocused his attention on the scene outside the Flying Ship.

The Yunyan 97 attempted several more attacks, but for the strange Storm Eagle that had already mastered the Instant Movement Skill, they posed no real threat.

It dodged them with ease.

Faced with such a crisis, Li Qian’s joy from his newfound inspiration evaporated, replaced by growing worry.

In the Flying Ship’s cockpit, the captain and the young pilot had also taken note of this.

Their brows were furrowed, their expressions grim.

"Warning. Warning. Target Energy Intensity detected. Exceeds Yunyan 97’s limits. Target is Dominator Level. Requesting permission to activate overload mode." The Yunyan 97’s sensors had quickly ascertained the enemy’s power, causing the faces of the captain and the young pilot to grow even more somber.

Without a moment’s hesitation, the captain gave the command. "Activate overload mode."

After giving the order, he turned to the young pilot and continued in a tone that allowed no argument, "You have control of the Yunyan 97."

With that, he hesitated no longer and slammed a red button next to his pilot’s seat.

"Captain, you—" The young pilot cried out in shock as he saw the captain press the red button.

Amidst the young pilot’s cry of astonishment, a circular platform began to rise slowly from the cockpit floor.

The captain stood on the circular platform as it ascended. Simultaneously, a hatch opened in the ceiling of the cockpit.

As the captain rose slowly toward the opening, his gaze fixed on the battle outside, becoming incredibly resolute. "I have to go out there and fight it!"
