Chapter 4540 - Why Fear Death

A scene that shook the hearts of countless cosmic gods played out up in the sky of the Flameyellow Imperial Star. The spiritual pillar of the wonderians, Imperator Shen, had their skin torn apart by the wonders that used to be theirs, scattering into stardust as their middlekin astrons exploded! They could barely believe their eyes, but they were more than aware of the effects of those imperial-class wonders. The imperator couple was going to die for sure if this went on!

Meanwhile, Moran and the other forty-nine figures still looked to be hurting. They continued to swallow up the last batch of wonders to assimilate them along with their users. Shen Wu had pierced their heart nine times, each time hurting more than the previous, yet it wasn't able to stop them from acting at all!

"Senior, save me!" cried the imperator couple. They could no longer hold on as countless blades and spears tore apart their cosmic-god bodies. The massive gates of white stone pressed down hard on them, pinning them down completely. They cried tears of blood as they howled for help.

Shen Wu could no longer just sit there. She was reaching her limits from not being able to kill Tianming, yet Tian Jiu could kill Imperator Shen right under her nose!

Even though she had altered the Heavenly Dao, she didn't possess the right to operate it. Its true controllers were the imperatores of the Eightpart Pantheons. With Imperator Mo and the rest all dead, Shen Wu would lose control of the Heavenly Dao once Imperator Shen died too! That would leave only Imperator Yin of the devas capable of operating the Heavenly Dao. Shen Wu wasn't able to supersede the imperatores' authority to use the Heavenly Dao and still had to rely on them!

"Tian Jiu!" Shen Wu roared at Moran. "Don't say I didn't warn you about the consequences!"

She couldn't let Imperator Shen die! Nine streams of silver sword flashes appeared and pierced into Tian Jiu's heart all at once from different directions. The heart was already covered in holes, yet it continued to beat weakly.

When it was finally pierced again by many blades at once, all fifty ink-green beauties froze and clutched their chests. Their beautiful faces contorted from the pain and turned incredibly pale. They looked no different from dead people. They shuddered and twitched, which also seemed to cause the wonders they deployed to flash with instability.

Tianming felt absolutely heartbroken seeing all this play out. He looked at the snow-white heart that was covered in cuts and could only imagine how much pain Moran and her sisters were in. They could feel each other's senses, so their pain intensified fiftyfold!

Even so, Moran had no intention of letting up on her attack on Imperator Shen. Her eyes shone with deathly determination. Even as it hurt so much that she almost lost all of her senses, the strength of her will helped her do the thing she wanted most: to save the person she loved!

"As long as I kill Imperator Shen, Tianming will stop crumbling... That will save him..."

She ignored the pain of the pierced heart, fully aware that this was Shen Wu's final warning. Even so, she had no regrets!

She used the imperial-class wonders and the countless more she had deployed to form a microcosm of stars that pushed down against Imperator Shen. There was no way they could defend against it! THeir massive 100-thousand-meter bodies continued to fall apart and disintegrate. It was a sight that stunned countless witnesses into silence.

Moran raised her hand despite the extreme pain as she began to assimilate the body of the imperator couple. This was the leader of the Eightpart Pantheons and the ultimate imperator of the wonderians. Just like that, they became a part of Tian Jiu in the skies of the Flameyellow Imperial Star, causing the wonderians nearby to despair even more. Was the end of days that they feared so much finally upon them?

"You fool!" Shen Wu's irises constricted at seeing what Moran had done. Even a higher lifeform like her fell into an uncontrollable rage.

Her eyes revealed how she had been pushed far beyond the brink. Then, a hint of cruelty surfaced on her expression. "Tian Jiu, I had wanted to spare you. Since you chose death, I will grant it."

It was clear that Shen Wu hadn't wanted to kill Tian Jiu. She had wanted to use Tian Jiu not just to defeat Tianming but also give her more authority in her dealings with the other numbered beings. Yet, Tian Jiu refused to be controlled. If Shen Wu didn't kill her, she wouldn't even be able to capture Tianming.

"Since you refuse to obey, there's no point in keeping you around. Die!" Shen Wu's silver sword ki formed a massive sword that cleaved down upon the snow-white heart, turning it into dust! This was Tian Jiu's true heart that had existed all the way since antiquity, and it was gone just like that!

"Little Fish!" Tianming roared. His eyes snapped open and switched between looking at the crushed heart and Moran, who was devouring Imperator Shen. Her ink-green silhouette looked ever so beautiful and elegant. Tianming felt as if time itself froze the moment the heart was crushed.

Moran had just completely devoured the imperator, killing them for good. They had returned to being part of Tian Jiu. That was when the Heavenly Dao began to fade away! Shen Wu no longer had a weapon to counter Tianming.

A beautiful smile appeared on Moran's face. She turned back to look at her beloved as tears flowed from her eyes. "With my heart crushed, I should be dying soon. But why fear death? As long as Tianming can be safe and sound, I... I have no regrets."

She looked at Tianming as memories surfaced in her mind during her final moments.
