Chapter 1099: Chapter 451: Orthodox Evolution Sect (2)
Wu Chang continued to ask, "You’re not afraid of him, so are you also not afraid of Mercury? As far as I know, he has some means to prevent anyone from leaking information related to him."
Meng Yawen curled her lips slightly, disdainfully saying, "We are in a cooperative relationship, I would never sign his contract."
As Meng Yawen replied, Wu Chang was also verifying the truth.
He did not see any divine threads on Meng Yawen’s tablet, and the All-Knowing Crystal also confirmed that the tablet was in an inactive status, which put his mind at ease.
He wasn’t worried about his questions being overheard by the Bright Society, but rather feared getting Meng Yawen implicated because of him.
After all, the two were friends, and she was Fang Hui’s girlfriend. With these two layers of relationships, it was certainly not like dealing with other small fry.
However, from Meng Yawen’s tone, it was clear that she didn’t care about the Bright Society, unlike those peripheral members like White Wolf from the Bright Society.
He curiously asked, "Then what is the identity of the force behind you?"
He had always been curious about the force behind Meng Yawen.
During their time in the Underground Shelter, the helmeted man under Meng Yawen’s orders was a genuine Realm of Reason Player, not inferior to Gu Feng, who was guarding the Pillar of the Present World at the time, indicating that her backing came from the Realm of Reason.
Meng Yawen was able to make Fang Hui disappear with her and provided enough resources for Fang Hui to improve rapidly, familiarizing him with the Power of Root from Awakening, which further demonstrated the foundation of her backing force.
Meng Yawen guessed Wu Chang would ask this question, but when actually asked, she was somewhat reluctant to answer.
She was silent for a while before saying:
"Evolution Sect, the force behind me, is the Evolution Sect of the Management Bureau in the Realm of Reason."
Wu Chang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he asked:
"Why is it the Evolution Sect of the Realm of Reason?"
Seeing Wu Chang’s intentions, if her answer today couldn’t satisfy him, it was likely he wouldn’t let her leave the Megrez Immortal Mansion, and indeed he had that capability.
At this point, she could only start explaining to Wu Chang.
The Evolution Sect and the Order Sect are not like Stilan’s Liberal Party and Conservative Party; they are genuine factions.
The difference between the two lies only in their different philosophies regarding the Abyssal Game and the Transcendent.
The Evolution Sect believes that the Abyssal Game is different from reality, where individual power is infinitely magnified. A powerful individual is far superior to four or five, or even a dozen, mediocre ones.
Therefore, they believe all resources should be gathered for players with potential to make the strong even stronger.
This indeed results in the exploitation of the weak, but in the Abyssal Game, only the truly strong can resolve the crisis of the Realm of Reason, or even the crisis brought by the Abyssal Game.
Only when the powerful are strong enough can more out of control dungeons in the Realm of Reason be tackled, preventing its collapse and creating more survival space.
The expansion of survival space can benefit the weak as well.
The Order Sect’s perspective on the problem starts from each layer of the Abyss.
They do not think the Evolution Sect’s ideas are wrong; they also believe that when facing a real crisis, a super player can be worth many ordinary players.
But they also believe that super players will not spread their energy on trivial matters, and will only focus on enhancing themselves to complete their evolution and enter the next layer of the Abyss.
The ones truly maintaining the stability of the Desolate Realm and the Realm of Reason are not the few super players but rather those players positioned mid to high level.
Pouring vast resources into a handful of top players, once they upgrade, could lead to a full collapse.
They believe true strength cannot be piled up with resources but is developed in a stable growing environment.
Spreading resources to nurture mid-tier players can both maintain the stability of the Abyss and allow many late-blooming geniuses, who need time to grow, room to develop.
The only drawback is a slightly slower growth for top players.
This difference causes the separations between the Order Sect and the Evolution Sect. Both ideologies initially stem from the perspective of the Management Bureau.
However, the philosophy of the Evolution Sect unavoidably leads to two situations: one is power worship, believing only the strong can resolve crises, that might makes right.
The other is the pursuit of power by any means necessary.
When the Four Major Organizations could still control the Realm of Reason, some members within the Evolution Sect could be somewhat restrained. But as the situation in the Realm of Reason changed, with the emergence of the Bright Society, more powerful than the Four Major Organizations, things began to spiral out of control.
Many top players nurtured by the Evolution Sect joined the Bright Society without any guilt, and those who couldn’t join either sought ways to become peripheral members or betray from within the Four Major Organizations, speaking for the Bright Society, hoping that one day it could swallow the Four Major Organizations.
If you questioned them, wouldn’t they feel guilty towards the Four Major Organizations that nurtured them?
They would naturally reply, "Surely you can’t stop me from heading towards something better."
With the support of the Bright Society, these members of the Evolution Sect soon led the faction, collaborating with the Illuminati to influence downwards, quickly eroding the Evolution Sect of the Desolate Realm.
With the emergence of a new Evolution Sect leaning towards the Bright Society, naturally there was a traditional Evolution Sect upholding the Management Bureau.
Meng Yawen and her backing were part of the traditional Evolution Sect.
The experience of long-term suppression by the Order Sect forced the traditional Evolution Sect to become an independent force, finding joy within their own territory.
They don’t trust the Order Sect, don’t trust the Bright Society, they only trust themselves.
