Become A Profiteer In Isekai
Chapter 182: Leaving Someone Behind
In the next moment, everyone except for Gante and Cersei turned their eyes to Mirana.
Their gazes held surprise, confusion, and anger.
Lu Wei instantly pieced together the truth.
‘Though he didn’t know when, it was obvious Freya had approached Mirana.’
‘And she’d had Mirana drug Furen, then sent Gante and Cersei to take him away.’
‘After all, Furen was one of their masters. Since they wouldn’t dare harm him, the task had to fall to someone else.’
‘And Mirana was the perfect person for the job.’
‘Because Furen trusted her.’
“…”
Staring at Mirana in silence, Lu Wei didn’t ask if he was right, nor did he ask why she had done it.
In the tense silence, only the sound of water flowing through a nearby channel reverberated in their ears.
After ten or so seconds, Gante spoke.
“Mr. Lu Wei, my apologies, but we must be going.”
“…Fine.”
A moment later, Lu Wei tore his gaze away from Mirana and looked at Gante.
“Leave Furen here. Then you can go.”
“Hm?”
Gante froze, the smile instantly vanishing from his face.
“Mr. Lu Wei, on what grounds are you stopping us from taking Young Master Furen?”
“I’m his captain,” Lu Wei stated simply.
“No, that’s hardly a position with any binding authority.”
Gante shook his head. “We are very grateful for how you’ve cared for Young Master Furen. Once we return, we will explain the situation to the Lord Marquis. I trust you’ll be receiving a handsome sum before long.”
“But that doesn’t give you the right to stop us.”
“I’m sure you’re aware of that.”
Perhaps feeling that Freya’s name wasn’t enough to intimidate Lu Wei, Gante had even brought up Furen’s father.
Being so polite when they held absolute superiority in strength was, in itself, a show of great respect toward Lu Wei.
Perhaps Gante believed that since Lu Wei and Furen were on good terms, he didn’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble over the matter.
However…
Judging by the current situation, Gante had shown Lu Wei courtesy, but Lu Wei had no intention of returning the favor.
“Hm, you have a point. The title of captain certainly doesn’t carry more authority than a father.”
To everyone’s astonishment, Lu Wei shrugged and said nonchalantly,
“In that case, I don’t need a reason.”
“Bottom line is, you’re not taking him.”
“…”
It was as if the air had caught fire, only to be instantly frozen solid.
In an instant, everyone, Mirana included, stared wide-eyed, unable to believe Lu Wei would say something so openly defiant.
Gante’s expression immediately darkened.
“Mr. Lu Wei, you’re going too far.”
“Am I?”
Lu Wei narrowed his eyes. “I don’t think I’m the one who’s out of line.”
“You…”
Gante’s brow furrowed, his expression souring, but for a moment he was at a loss for words.
Instead, it was Cersei, clad in gleaming armor beside him, who suddenly spoke up.
“Let’s just go. Why are you wasting your breath on him?”
“…Right.”
Gante took a deep breath and nodded.
He then strode forward, walking right past Lu Wei.
Cersei and Mirana followed.
As she passed Lu Wei, Mirana hesitated, turning her head as if she wanted to say something.
But in the end, she said nothing.
Gante and Cersei didn’t even look back. They passed through the path that Theodore and the others had silently cleared and were soon several meters away.
But just then, Lu Wei’s voice rang out again.
“I said, leave Furen.”
“…”
Gante frowned, stopping to look back.
Without a word, he rested his hand on the hilt of the Sword at his waist and flicked open the clasp with his thumb—a final warning to Lu Wei.
Lu Wei wasted no more time. His left hand gripped the hilt of his Sword, Confession.
BOOM—
An invisible Force Field erupted from him, instantly enveloping Gante and the two women.
CREAK…
Under the pressure of the threefold Force Field, the scales of Cersei’s armor immediately began to grind and shriek.
But the trio only faltered for a moment before steadying themselves, their expressions grim.
The effect of [Force Field] is reduced by [Physical Resistance].
[Physical Resistance], in turn, is highly correlated with the [Power] Attribute.
And [Warrior] and [Holy Knight] are both Professions that demand extremely high Power.
Mirana, for her part, had a staggering 31 points in Power.
Therefore, the threefold Force Field—powerful enough to crush goblins and Kobolds—had a negligible effect on the three of them.
Even if Lu Wei increased the multiplier to five, it would likely only slow their movements significantly.
“So it’s a Gravity Gemstone.”
“No wonder you could kill so many goblins and Kobolds.”
“But I’m afraid you don’t know the first thing about the gap between a Professional and an Ordinary person…”
Gante sneered as he looked at the “Star Core” on Confession, about to mock Lu Wei’s ignorant arrogance.
But Lu Wei didn’t give him the chance.
The next second, reflected in Gante’s rapidly constricting pupils, Lu Wei’s left hand remained on the hilt of his Sword, Confession. His right hand, however, was already raised. A ball of pure, scorching, almost tangible golden Holy Light rapidly coalesced in his palm.
The golden light then stretched and shifted, transforming in the blink of an eye into a solid, sharp Short Spear aimed straight at Gante’s chest.
[Force Field] + [Light-guided Arrow]
The oppressive weight and the sacred will merged in perfect harmony.
“I’ll say this one last time.”
His cold gaze swept over the stunned figures of Gante, Cersei, and Mirana, making no distinction between them.
Amid the frantic pounding of their hearts, Lu Wei repeated for the third and final time:
“Leave him here.”
